Brands Directory Section 2.0 vs Search & Discovery ‑ Viselyfor Shopify (2026)
Brands Directory Section 2.0 and Search & Discovery - Visely both address search and navigation needs on a Shopify store, but cater to vastly different priorities and merchant profiles. Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a straightforward and immediate solution to enable a 'shop by brand' experience without coding, Brands Directory Section 2.0 provides a basic option, despite its lack of reviews. This app is well-suited for small stores with a limited product catalog where advanced search and filtering capabilities aren't critical.
Search & Discovery - Visely is the superior choice for merchants managing larger catalogs who want to significantly improve their site's search functionality and overall customer experience. The high rating and positive reviews suggest a reliable app with a track record of improving sales and engagement. Visely's comprehensive feature set justifies its potentially higher complexity for stores prioritizing advanced search, personalized recommendations, and tailored filters.
Common Questions
What level of coding is required for each app?
Brands Directory Section 2.0 requires absolutely no coding. Search & Discovery - Visely provides white-glove service to integrate the app within the theme, but setting up advanced configurations like synonyms and custom rankings will likely require a deeper understanding of the app.
Which app is better for a small store with a limited budget?
Brands Directory Section 2.0 is likely the better option for stores on a limited budget as it offers a very specific, limited function with presumably a smaller or nonexistent fee (check the app store for current pricing). Visely, with its extensive features, is likely a premium app.

Brands Directory Section 2.0 automatically lists the brands based on the vendor information already in your Shopify store. Search & Discovery - Visely provides real-time catalog syncing to keep search results and filters aligned with changes.
Which app offers more advanced customization?
Search & Discovery - Visely offers significantly more customization options, including tailored filters, pins, synonyms, exclusions, and custom rankings. It also provides customization for international and business shoppers.
Does either app offer product recommendations?
Only Search & Discovery - Visely explicitly mentions product recommendations as a key feature. Brands Directory Section 2.0 focuses solely on listing brands.
