Bread Pay Messaging vs Partialy ‑ Partial Payment CODfor Shopify (2026)
Bread Pay Messaging and Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD both address payment flexibility but cater to different merchant needs. Bread Pay Messaging focuses on offering Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) financing through Bread, allowing customers to pre-qualify for loans early in the shopping journey. This shifts the payment risk to Bread and provides merchants with upfront payment in full. Partialy, on the other hand, centers around partial payments (deposits) and Cash on Delivery (COD) options, giving merchants more control over the payment process and allowing them to manage risk themselves. Bread Pay Messaging aims to increase sales by empowering customers with transparent financing options, particularly appealing to merchants selling higher-value items where financing is a common consideration. Partialy, by comparison, helps improve sales and reduce Return To Origin (RTO) by offering flexible payment plans such as partial payments and COD. This benefits merchants aiming to cater to customers who may prefer or require these payment methods, especially in markets where COD is prevalent. The two apps also differ in their risk profiles, with Bread Pay Messaging transferring risk to Bread and Partialy requiring merchants to manage COD and partial payment risks. Partialy offers a more extensive range of features concerning COD, including advanced rules based on location, product, customer, and discounts, while Bread Pay Messaging is focused on pre-qualifying customers for financing through their proprietary platform. These differences highlight their respective target merchant groups and the payment flexibility needs they each address.

Our Verdict
If your store sells higher-priced items and you want to offer a seamless financing option to increase sales and avoid managing payment risk, Bread Pay Messaging is the better choice. The integrated pre-qualification and checkout process make it easy for customers to access financing. However, if your business operates in a region where COD is common or you want to offer partial payment options to reduce RTO and cater to customers who prefer paying upon delivery, Partialy is the superior option. Its advanced COD rules and flexibility in setting payment structures are particularly valuable for merchants needing that level of control.
For merchants who need to lower RTO by requiring some funds upfront and also cater to those who prefer COD, Partialy is the clear choice. Bread Pay Messaging is more aligned for high-value goods where consumer financing is a frequent need.
