BroadcastSMS vs HiTide: Grow your SMS Listfor Shopify (2026)
BroadcastSMS and HiTide: Grow your SMS List represent distinct approaches to SMS marketing for Shopify merchants in 2026. BroadcastSMS focuses on building an SMS list directly through the checkout process and then managing SMS/MMS campaigns internally. It emphasizes self-management, cloud-based accessibility, and direct customer interaction via text. This positions it as a standalone SMS solution, suitable for merchants looking for complete control over their SMS marketing, potentially those who are tech-savvy or have specific needs not easily met by integrations. HiTide, on the other hand, is laser-focused on growing SMS lists through Instagram DM automation. It caters to merchants already using popular SMS marketing platforms like Attentive, BigCo, Klaviyo, Postscript, Sendlane, or Yotpo. HiTide serves as an add-on, streamlining SMS list acquisition through social media campaigns like giveaways and early access events. Its strength lies in its integrations and ability to measure social ROI, making it an ideal choice for brands with established SMS marketing workflows seeking to boost list growth through Instagram.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants seeking a comprehensive, standalone SMS marketing solution and direct control over customer interactions, BroadcastSMS could be a starting point, *if* the lack of reviews isn't a deterrent and they're willing to take a risk. However, the absence of reviews and the 0/5 rating are serious red flags.
HiTide is the clear choice for merchants already invested in platforms like Attentive, Klaviyo, or Postscript and are actively looking to leverage Instagram for rapid SMS list growth. Its strong rating and positive reviews suggest a reliable solution for social-driven list building. Therefore, the key consideration is whether you need a full SMS platform or a targeted list-growth tool integrated with your existing workflow. Based on the available information, HiTide is generally the safer and likely more effective option.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?

The description does not mention any integrations for BroadcastSMS. It appears to be a self-contained SMS marketing solution.
Can HiTide send MMS messages?
HiTide's description focuses on list growth. It doesn't explicitly mention MMS capabilities. You would likely need to use your integrated SMS platform (e.g., Klaviyo) for sending MMS messages after acquiring subscribers through HiTide.
How secure is HiTide's Instagram connection?
HiTide claims to connect to Instagram securely using a Meta-approved API, without requiring you to share your password. This implies a secure and compliant connection method.
Is either app suitable for a beginner?
HiTide might be a better starting point for beginners, provided they are already familiar with one of the integrated SMS platforms. Its focus on list growth simplifies the initial setup. BroadcastSMS, while potentially offering more control, might require more SMS marketing expertise.
