Buy Box: Product Page Blocks vs Coming soon ‑ csfor Shopify (2026)
Buy Box: Product Page Blocks and Coming soon ‑ cs, while both listed under the 'Page builder' category on Shopify, cater to fundamentally different needs of merchants. Buy Box is designed to enhance existing product pages with conversion-optimized elements. It directly targets merchants seeking to improve their sales by adding trust badges, social proof, and other features to encourage purchases on already active product pages. It seems targeted towards established stores. Coming soon ‑ cs, on the other hand, focuses on managing customer communication during store construction or maintenance periods. It helps create engaging "coming soon" pages to inform visitors about launch dates and collect leads. The key difference lies in their purpose: Buy Box aims to optimize *active* product pages for sales, while Coming soon ‑ cs focuses on creating temporary placeholder pages during store downtime. Buy Box integrates directly into the theme editor, allowing for customization of existing product pages, while Coming soon ‑ cs offers a drag-and-drop builder for designing standalone coming soon landing pages. Our Verdict
The choice between Buy Box: Product Page Blocks and Coming soon ‑ cs depends entirely on the merchant's current needs. If the merchant has a live store and wants to improve sales conversion, Buy Box is the clear choice. Its features directly address concerns related to building trust and encouraging purchases on existing product pages.
On the other hand, if the merchant is launching a new store, undergoing significant maintenance, or temporarily closing, Coming soon ‑ cs is the more appropriate solution. It allows the merchant to create an engaging placeholder page to keep customers informed and potentially gather leads while the store is unavailable.
Common Questions
Can Buy Box: Product Page Blocks be used on a store that's not yet launched?
While technically possible, Buy Box is designed to enhance *existing* product pages. Its features are most effective when applied to products already listed and potentially receiving traffic. A 'coming soon' page is a better solution for a store that hasn't launched yet.
Does Coming soon ‑ cs integrate with existing product pages?
No, Coming soon ‑ cs creates standalone landing pages that are typically used to replace the entire store or specific pages during maintenance or before launch. It doesn't directly integrate with existing product pages like Buy Box does.
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps aim for ease of use, but in different ways. Buy Box integrates with the theme editor, providing a familiar customization environment. Coming soon ‑ cs offers a drag-and-drop builder, which can be user-friendly for creating simple landing pages quickly. 'Easier' depends on the user's familiarity with theme editors versus drag-and-drop interfaces.
Is either app mobile-friendly?
The descriptions do not explicitly state mobile-friendliness, however, given Shopify's emphasis on responsive design and the apps' integration within the Shopify ecosystem, it's highly probable that both apps' features are mobile-responsive. Further investigation is recommended to confirm.
Which app is better for SEO?
Coming soon - cs can be used to maintain some level of SEO presence while a store is down, by providing information and potentially collecting email addresses. It's more SEO focused in that specific instance, than Buy Box. Buy Box primarily focuses on on-page conversion and doesn't inherently provide any SEO benefits. Proper implementation of Coming Soon features is crucial for maintaining a positive SEO profile during store downtime.
