Canonical Tag URL Wizard vs Plug in Speed ‑ Maximize Speedfor Shopify (2026)
Canonical Tag URL Wizard and Plug in Speed - Maximize Speed both fall under the 'Site optimization - Other' Shopify category, but address very different needs. Canonical Tag URL Wizard focuses on SEO by enabling merchants to directly edit canonical URLs for products, pages, articles, and collections. The target audience is merchants who understand canonical tags and their impact on SEO, or those who want direct control over this aspect of their site. Plug in Speed - Maximize Speed, on the other hand, is geared towards improving site speed through image and code optimization. Plug in Speed - Maximize Speed aims to improve site performance, focusing on image compression and code minification. This app targets merchants concerned about page load times and conversion rates, offering a one-click automatic setup for image optimization and automated code optimization. Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing granular control over SEO and comfortable with canonical tags, Canonical Tag URL Wizard is the clear choice. It offers direct editing capabilities and targets those seeking to fine-tune how search engines crawl and index their content. However, those with limited technical SEO experience or those more concerned about overall site performance and conversion rates should opt for Plug in Speed - Maximize Speed. Its focus on automated image and code optimization provides a more accessible approach to improving site speed and user experience. Choosing between the two depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs, technical proficiency, and desired approach to SEO.
