CartHook Upsells vs Essential Free Shipping Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
CartHook Upsells and Essential Free Shipping Upsell are both designed to increase Average Order Value (AOV) on Shopify stores, but they approach this goal with fundamentally different strategies. CartHook Upsells focuses on post-purchase upselling through sophisticated funnel building, offering tailored product recommendations and discounts after the initial checkout process. It emphasizes one-click upsells and A/B testing to optimize conversion rates. Essential Free Shipping Upsell, on the other hand, uses the psychological principle of incentivized free shipping, prompting customers to add more items to their cart to reach a specified spending threshold. Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to optimize the post-purchase experience with personalized upsell funnels and A/B testing, CartHook Upsells is the stronger choice. Its drag-and-drop builder and one-click upsells cater to stores with a wide product range and a need for targeted upselling strategies. However, stores that want a simple, effective way to increase AOV by leveraging the psychology of free shipping should opt for Essential Free Shipping Upsell. Its high rating and large number of reviews suggest strong user satisfaction and ease of implementation. Ultimately, the best choice depends on whether the merchant wants a sophisticated, data-driven post-purchase solution (CartHook) or a straightforward, pre-purchase incentive-based system (Essential Free Shipping Upsell).
