Cartão de Crédito ‑ Asaas vs Koin Cashback & Store Creditfor Shopify (2026)
Cartão de Crédito ‑ Asaas and Koin Cashback & Store Credit are both Shopify apps in the 'Payments' category, but they serve drastically different purposes. Asaas focuses on providing a secure and fast payment gateway in Brazil, specifically for credit card transactions (both single payment and installments). It emphasizes security (PCI-DSS), receivables anticipation, and integration with other Asaas payment options like Pix and Boleto. Its target audience is likely Brazilian merchants who need to accept credit card payments and manage their cash flow effectively. Koin, on the other hand, offers a store credit and cashback solution aimed at boosting customer retention and repeat purchases. Koin is positioned as a marketing and goodwill tool rather than a direct payment processor. It allows merchants to reward customers for various actions with store credit, supports both D2C and B2B (Shopify Plus) businesses, and provides tools for managing and promoting these rewards. The key differentiator is that Asaas provides payment processing, while Koin leverages *existing* payment methods and adds a loyalty/rewards layer on top. The ease of use factor is hard to determine without user reviews for Asaas, however Koin offers automated workflows, a dashboard for tracking store credit, and customizable widgets.

Our Verdict
Cartão de Crédito ‑ Asaas is the clear choice for Brazilian merchants who need a payment gateway to accept credit card payments, especially those requiring installment options, receivables anticipation, and integration with the Brazilian payment ecosystem (Pix, Boleto). The lack of reviews is a significant concern, but the app's feature set directly addresses the specific needs of that market.
Koin Cashback & Store Credit is better suited for merchants, regardless of location, who already have a payment processing solution in place and want to enhance customer loyalty and drive repeat business. Its focus on store credit, cashback, and automated rewards programs makes it a strong option for e-commerce businesses looking to improve customer retention and increase profitability. If you are in Brazil, and already have a payment processor, Koin might still provide a valuable addition to increase retention. However, if you don't have a payment method set up, Cartão de Crédito - Asaas is the way to go.
