Catalog Maker by Now in Store vs PayPal Pay Later Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
Catalog Maker by Now in Store and PayPal Pay Later Messaging, while sharing the 'Advertising - Other' category on Shopify, cater to distinctly different needs. Catalog Maker appears to focus on enabling merchants to create and distribute product catalogs. With a higher rating (3.9/5) and a substantial number of reviews (92), it suggests a broader user base and generally positive user experience within its target niche. The app's strength lies in its utility for businesses that rely on catalogs for sales and marketing, providing tools for easy catalog generation and potentially distribution across various channels. It's positioned towards merchants looking to improve their catalog-based sales strategies. PayPal Pay Later Messaging, on the other hand, directly integrates with PayPal's 'Pay Later' feature. The app is likely used to display 'Pay Later' options on a store's product and cart pages. Its lower rating (3.5/5) and very few reviews (4) suggest that it is a newer app, that there are issues, or that it caters to a much narrower segment of users. Its target audience is Shopify merchants who already use or want to integrate PayPal's 'Pay Later' service to boost sales by offering flexible payment options to their customers. The app's primary benefit is providing a way for shoppers to easily see if they qualify for a 'Pay Later' payment plan.

Our Verdict
The choice between these apps hinges on the merchant's business model and specific needs. If the merchant heavily relies on catalogs for driving sales and wants to improve catalog creation and distribution, Catalog Maker by Now in Store is the more suitable choice. The higher rating and larger number of reviews suggest a more mature and potentially more reliable solution.
However, if the primary goal is to increase sales by offering customers the option to 'Pay Later' through PayPal, then PayPal Pay Later Messaging is the direct solution. Merchants should be aware of the lower rating and few reviews and proceed with caution, closely monitoring its performance and customer feedback. If a merchant needs both a product catalog and the ability for a customer to pay later, they will need to use both apps or look for a solution that does both.
