Catalog Maker by Now in Store vs Scalapay On‑Site Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
Catalog Maker by Now in Store and Scalapay On‑Site Messaging are both listed under Shopify's 'Advertising - Other' category, but they serve drastically different purposes and target different merchant segments. Catalog Maker by Now in Store, with a rating of 3.9/5 based on 92 reviews, seems to offer a broader solution, likely related to catalog management and potentially print or digital catalog creation, although the provided data is limited. Its higher rating and substantial review count suggest a more established user base and generally positive experience. However, without further detail on functionality, a specific assessment of its strengths is difficult. Scalapay On‑Site Messaging, on the other hand, is highly specific. It focuses on promoting the Scalapay payment method within a Shopify store. Its core value proposition is increasing sales by informing customers about the availability of Scalapay's buy-now-pay-later service. The app enables customized messaging and widgets on product and cart pages. However, its exceptionally low rating of 1.4/5 based on only 4 reviews raises significant concerns about its usability, effectiveness, or potentially integration issues. Scalapay On-site Messaging is geared towards merchants already using Scalapay who want to actively promote this payment option to their customers.

Our Verdict
Based on the available data, Catalog Maker by Now in Store appears to be the safer choice, given its higher rating and larger user base. While its exact functionality is unknown without further detail, the positive sentiment suggests a more stable and reliable app. Scalapay On‑Site Messaging might be appealing to merchants heavily invested in Scalapay as a key payment option. However, the extremely low rating raises serious red flags, and potential users should proceed with extreme caution, possibly contacting Scalapay or exploring alternatives before committing. The small number of reviews makes it hard to fully dismiss the app, but it certainly warrants extensive testing and verification before deploying it to a live store.
Ultimately, the 'better' app depends on the merchant's specific needs. If a merchant requires catalog management or creation tools, Catalog Maker is the only contender here. If a merchant *only* needs to promote Scalapay, and is willing to take a risk, Scalapay On-Site Messaging might be considered, but with careful testing. The lack of positive user feedback suggests potential instability and integration issues.
