Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing clear store architecture and enhanced SEO through structured categorization, Categories Uncomplicated is the better choice. Its focus on hierarchical organization, breadcrumbs, and improved SEO metadata is ideal for stores with large product catalogs. However, the lack of reviews in 2026 raises some questions about its continued support and updates.
Product Picked is more suitable for merchants selling complex or niche products where customers need guidance to make informed purchasing decisions. The AI-powered quiz and personalized recommendations can significantly improve conversion rates by acting like a virtual salesperson. However, the lack of reviews makes it a riskier option, and merchants should carefully consider whether the benefits of AI-powered recommendations outweigh the lack of social proof.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to install?
Both apps claim easy installation. Categories Uncomplicated offers drag-and-drop for 2.0 themes and code integration for older themes, while Product Picked uses a theme extension block that supports any theme. Without more details, it's hard to definitively say which is easier; it will depend on the merchant's technical skills and Shopify theme version.
Which app is better for SEO?
Categories Uncomplicated explicitly mentions improving SEO metadata with dynamic JSON-LD. Product Picked does not specifically address SEO, suggesting Categories Uncomplicated is the better choice for merchants prioritizing SEO improvements directly.
Which app provides a more personalized shopping experience?
Product Picked delivers a personalized shopping experience through its AI-powered product quizzes and tailored recommendations. Categories Uncomplicated focuses on categorization, which can indirectly improve the shopping experience but doesn't offer personalized recommendations.
If I have a large product catalog, which app is more suitable?
Categories Uncomplicated is designed to handle large product catalogs by organizing them into hierarchical categories and sub-categories, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for. Product Picked, while helpful, does not explicitly address the challenges of navigating large product catalogs.
What are the biggest risks of using Product Picked in 2026?
The biggest risk of using Product Picked in 2026 is the lack of reviews. A zero-star rating with zero reviews suggests either the app is extremely new, or it's experiencing significant problems. Merchants should carefully consider whether the benefits of Product Picked outweigh the risks associated with a new or potentially unsupported app.
