Categories Uncomplicated vs Root Scroll | Scroll To Topfor Shopify (2026)
Categories Uncomplicated and Root Scroll | Scroll To Top, while sharing the 'Search and navigation' and 'Navigation and menus' categories on Shopify, address fundamentally different aspects of store usability. Categories Uncomplicated focuses on organizing product collections into a hierarchical structure, aiming to improve product discovery and SEO. It offers features like category/subcategory creation, integration with Shopify Translate & Adapt, dynamic JSON-LD for SEO, and easy installation. In contrast, Root Scroll | Scroll To Top is a utility app designed to enhance user experience by providing a customizable 'scroll-to-top' button for quick navigation back to the top of a page, particularly beneficial for long product pages or extensive browsing sessions. Our Verdict
For merchants with a large and complex product catalog looking to improve organization, SEO, and product discoverability, Categories Uncomplicated is the clear choice. Its hierarchical category structure and SEO features offer substantial benefits. However, merchants focused solely on improving the user experience by offering a quick way to navigate back to the top of the page, particularly on mobile devices or long product pages, would find Root Scroll | Scroll To Top a simple and effective solution.
Ultimately, the best app depends on the specific needs of the merchant. If product organization and SEO are priorities, Categories Uncomplicated wins. If the goal is solely to improve basic site navigation for user convenience, Root Scroll | Scroll To Top is the more appropriate choice. Given its lack of reviews, the merchant would need to be comfortable being an early adopter.
