CateringHero vs Progus Store Locator Mapfor Shopify (2026)
CateringHero and Progus Store Locator Map are both Shopify apps related to 'Selling in person', but they serve drastically different needs. CateringHero is designed for catering businesses to manage menus and online ordering directly on their Shopify store. It allows customers to browse categories, select items, and book catering services for specific dates. In contrast, Progus Store Locator Map helps businesses with physical locations showcase their stores to customers. It focuses on providing a user-friendly map interface, advanced analytics, and multilingual support to help customers find physical storefronts. CateringHero's strength lies in its specific focus on menu management and catering order processing, addressing the needs of a niche market. However, the extremely low rating (1/5) and minimal reviews (1) raise serious concerns about its reliability and usability. Progus Store Locator Map, on the other hand, boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on a significant number of reviews (58), indicating a higher level of user satisfaction. Its feature set centers on store location visibility, data-driven insights and customization which is beneficial for any Shopify store with one or more physical locations.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants in 2026, Progus Store Locator Map is the significantly safer and more established choice for businesses that require physical store locations and want an easy way for customers to find them. The high rating and numerous positive reviews provide strong validation of its effectiveness and reliability. Progus Store Locator also provides advanced analytics, which is a key benefit for understanding customer behavior and optimizing your business strategy.
CateringHero, given its exceptionally poor rating and limited reviews, should be approached with extreme caution. While the concept of simplifying catering orders within Shopify is appealing, the app's current state suggests it might be buggy, difficult to use, or poorly supported. A merchant seeking a catering app would be better served looking at alternatives with better ratings or waiting for CateringHero to improve significantly, which will require time and evidence of quality improvements.
