ChatGPT‑AI Product Description vs Custom Authorsfor Shopify (2026)
ChatGPT‑AI Product Description and Custom Authors are both Shopify apps within the 'Content' category, but cater to vastly different needs. ChatGPT-AI Product Description is positioned as a powerful tool for merchants seeking to automate and optimize product content creation at scale. Its strength lies in leveraging AI to generate high-converting product descriptions, titles, and SEO metadata in bulk, targeting merchants looking to improve search engine ranking and boost sales through optimized product listings. Custom Authors, on the other hand, is a niche app focused on simplifying blog post author management. It addresses the specific pain point of merchants with multiple blog contributors who need a seamless way to assign and change authorship of their blog articles. The key difference lies in their functionalities: one focuses on product content optimization, the other on blog management and authorship.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants prioritizing the optimization of their product listings to improve search engine ranking and increase sales, ChatGPT‑AI Product Description is the clear choice. Its AI-powered bulk generation capabilities and focus on SEO are invaluable for large product catalogs. Custom Authors, in contrast, is specifically suited for merchants with active blogs and multiple contributors who require a streamlined way to manage and update blog post authorship. If author management is a pain point, then Custom Authors is the ideal solution. However, most stores would likely find greater and more immediate value with ChatGPT‑AI Product Description unless they are heavily focused on content marketing through blogging.
