Chaty: WhatsApp & Chat buttons vs Convi ‑ AI Sales Chatbot & FAQfor Shopify (2026)
Chaty and Convi both aim to improve customer engagement on Shopify stores via chat, but they take fundamentally different approaches. Chaty focuses on providing a wide range of chat channels, enabling customers to connect with merchants via their preferred platform. This app serves as a central hub for various communication methods, acting as a contact point rather than directly handling the entire conversation. Convi, in contrast, leans into AI-powered automation. Its AI chatbot handles initial customer inquiries, offering product recommendations, order tracking, and general support, intending to streamline customer service and boost sales through instant responses and personalized suggestions. Therefore, Chaty is about enabling diverse communication channels, while Convi is about automating responses and driving sales with AI.

Our Verdict
The choice between Chaty and Convi depends heavily on a merchant's priorities and resources. Chaty is a strong option for businesses that want to meet customers where they already are, offering multiple contact methods and facilitating direct human interaction. It's best for companies that have the staff to handle increased inquiries across various platforms. Convi, on the other hand, shines when automation and AI-driven sales are paramount. It's suitable for stores that want to provide 24/7 support, handle a high volume of inquiries, and proactively recommend products, even if customer response will be delayed or slightly less personal. The lower review count of Convi necessitates further research to confirm its effectiveness compared to the well-established Chaty.
Common Questions
Does Chaty or Convi offer better support for international customers?
Chaty, with its support for multiple chat apps popular worldwide (e.g., Line, Viber, WeChat, Telegram), provides a broader reach for international customers. Convi's effectiveness depends on whether its AI can handle diverse languages and cultural nuances.
Which app is easier to set up and manage?
Both apps claim easy integration. Convi's description specifically mentions 'one-click setup.' Chaty, due to its many integration options, might require more configuration time initially, but may offer more customization in the long run.
Which app is better for generating leads?
Chaty, with its contact form option, might be better for directly capturing leads. Convi focuses more on driving sales through automated chat interactions but could indirectly generate leads by answering customer questions.
Can I track the performance of both apps?
Chaty explicitly mentions integration with Google Analytics for tracking customer interactions. Convi's description does not directly mention performance tracking, but such features are typically available in chatbot platforms.
Which app is more cost-effective for a small business?
Cost effectiveness depends on the pricing plans of both apps and the specific needs of the business. If a business lacks staff for active chat support, Convi's automation could offer a cost-effective alternative. However, if the business has staff to handle inquiries and prioritizes direct customer interaction, Chaty might be more cost-effective due to its simpler functionality.
