Checkout | Flow vs Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaksfor Shopify (2026)
Checkout | Flow and Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks both aim to increase average order value (AOV) for Shopify merchants through upselling and cross-selling techniques, but they approach the problem from different angles and target slightly different merchant needs. Checkout | Flow focuses on enhancing the checkout experience directly, allowing merchants to customize the checkout page itself with upsells, content, forms, and branding elements through Checkout Extensibility. Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks, in contrast, concentrates on product bundling, quantity breaks, and other volume-based discounting strategies to encourage larger purchases throughout the entire shopping journey, emphasizing pre-checkout strategies. The key distinction lies in *where* these apps operate in the customer journey and *how* they attempt to boost AOV. Checkout | Flow provides tools to optimize the checkout page and associated order status pages. Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks aims to create more enticing product offerings and incentives before the customer even reaches the checkout. The review counts strongly favor Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks, suggesting greater market penetration and broader user experience data, while the 5-star rating for both indicates generally positive experiences within their respective focuses.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing a highly customized and branded checkout experience, particularly those comfortable with Shopify's Checkout Extensibility or those who need to add legal forms or detailed information to the checkout flow, Checkout | Flow is the better choice. Its focus on the checkout page itself gives merchants granular control over this crucial stage. The white-glove onboarding will make up for the smaller review count.
However, for merchants whose primary goal is to drive higher AOV through strategic product bundling, quantity discounts, and cross-selling opportunities offered *before* the checkout stage, Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks offers a more robust and proven solution. The much larger review count and focus on pre-checkout incentivization makes it ideal for stores with products readily suited to bundling or volume-based discounts.
