Checkout Pulse by PDQ vs Zigpoll Customer Surveysfor Shopify (2026)
Checkout Pulse by PDQ and Zigpoll Customer Surveys are both highly-rated Shopify apps in the analytics category, but they address vastly different needs. Checkout Pulse focuses on real-time checkout performance monitoring, aiming to identify and resolve issues in the checkout flow instantly. It emphasizes proactive alerts and visual funnels to minimize lost sales due to technical problems. Conversely, Zigpoll Customer Surveys concentrates on gathering customer feedback through surveys deployed at various touchpoints, including pre-purchase, post-purchase, and abandoned checkouts. The primary distinction lies in their data source and purpose. Checkout Pulse uses internal Shopify data to provide technical insights, while Zigpoll uses external customer opinions and preferences gathered via surveys. While both apps ultimately aim to improve conversion rates, Checkout Pulse optimizes the checkout process through technical fixes, and Zigpoll enhances the overall customer experience and product roadmap by collecting direct feedback. Checkout Pulse would be best suited to larger stores with complex checkout flows, while Zigpoll is more applicable to stores of any size looking to improve their product and brand by gathering user insights.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with technical glitches in their checkout process and experiencing sudden drops in conversion rates, Checkout Pulse is the clear choice. Its real-time alerts and visual funnels offer immediate insights into potential problems, allowing for quick resolution. However, if a merchant wants to understand customer preferences, reduce cart abandonment through feedback gathering, and refine marketing strategies based on customer sentiment, Zigpoll Customer Surveys is the superior option.
In short, Checkout Pulse is ideal for technically-focused problem solving in the checkout funnel, while Zigpoll is ideal for customer-centric product and marketing optimization. Consider your greatest pain points before deciding between the two apps. A store might even benefit from using both to gain a holistic understanding of conversion optimization – technical and customer-driven.

Both apps claim ease of setup, with Checkout Pulse highlighting its Shopify-native integration and Zigpoll emphasizing no-code setup. In practice, both should be relatively straightforward, but a lack of reviews on Checkout Pulse makes it harder to be certain.
Which app provides more proactive insights?
Checkout Pulse is specifically designed to be proactive, sending real-time Slack alerts when issues arise. Zigpoll requires active review of survey responses, although its abandoned checkout campaigns could be considered a form of proactive engagement.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, they can. Checkout Pulse can identify technical issues causing checkout abandonment, while Zigpoll can uncover the customer-related reasons behind it. Using both apps provides a more complete picture.
Which app is more suitable for a small store?
Zigpoll Customer Surveys is generally more beneficial for smaller stores. Smaller stores may not have the traffic and technical complexity that Checkout Pulse is designed to monitor, while customer feedback is valuable at any size.
