Chronopost Official vs Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZipfor Shopify (2026)
Chronopost Official and Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip are two Shopify apps addressing shipping rates, but cater to vastly different needs and audiences. Chronopost Official positions itself as a direct integration with the Chronopost carrier, enabling shipping to a wide range of countries (230) and focusing on label generation, parcel tracking, and simplified returns via Chronopost. Its core value proposition centers around optimizing logistics for merchants already using or intending to use Chronopost as their primary carrier. It specifically offers features for handling surcharges for remote areas and Corsica, suggesting a focus on geographic specificity with the Chronopost network. In stark contrast, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip offers advanced, highly customizable shipping rules not tied to a specific carrier. It is aimed at merchants needing complex, condition-based rate calculations based on product attributes, customer locations (zip codes), order parameters, and delivery dates. Key strengths include its ability to define rates by product tag, restrict PO box addresses, offer local delivery/store pickup options (including order delivery date scheduling, relevant for bakeries and flower shops), and blend rates for combinations. This app is ideal for merchants with complex inventory, diverse customer bases, and advanced shipping requirements beyond standard carrier rates.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily using Chronopost and needing a direct integration to manage shipments, labels, and tracking within that ecosystem, Chronopost Official may seem appealing. However, its extremely low rating and limited reviews are significant red flags. This suggests potential usability issues, poor support, or unmet expectations that require serious investigation before considering it.
On the other hand, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip is the clear choice for merchants requiring advanced shipping rate customization, complex inventory management, local delivery options, and rules-based shipping logic. The high rating and substantial number of reviews indicate a reliable and well-received app. While the setup might be more involved due to the extensive customization options, the flexibility and features offered make it a superior option for a broader range of Shopify merchants seeking granular control over their shipping rates.
Common Questions
Which app is better for international shipping?

Potentially Chronopost Official, IF you are already using Chronopost and the low rating isn't reflective of ease-of-use problems. Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip's advanced customization likely involves a steeper learning curve, but offers more control.
Can I offer local delivery with both apps?
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip explicitly offers features for local delivery and store pickup, including order delivery date scheduling. Chronopost Official does not explicitly mention local delivery options.
Which app handles shipping rates based on product weight or dimensions?
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip allows for incremental shipping by weight or quantity. While Chronopost Official may factor weight and dimensions into Chronopost's calculated rates, it's not explicitly stated.
