Clearpay On‑Site Messaging vs UnumPayfor Shopify (2026)
Clearpay On-Site Messaging and UnumPay address vastly different aspects of the payment landscape for Shopify merchants. Clearpay focuses on promoting a specific buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) service, Clearpay, to Millennial and Gen Z customers. Its strength lies in on-site messaging and visual customization to drive adoption of Clearpay. In contrast, UnumPay acts as a payment aggregator, connecting merchants to over 40 payment gateways through a single integration, providing centralized payment management and reporting. UnumPay's value proposition centers on simplifying payment operations and improving overall checkout experience through broad gateway support and real-time analytics. The key distinction lies in their purpose. Clearpay aims to increase Clearpay usage through targeted on-site promotion. Its features revolve around message customization and visual appeal. UnumPay, however, is about payment infrastructure simplification, offering a comprehensive solution for managing diverse payment methods and monitoring performance. While Clearpay targets merchants already offering or looking to offer Clearpay, UnumPay caters to businesses needing a robust, multi-gateway payment solution.

Our Verdict
For merchants already offering Clearpay or specifically targeting Gen Z and Millennials who prefer BNPL options, Clearpay On-Site Messaging is the more appropriate choice. Its visual editor and customization features allow merchants to effectively promote Clearpay and drive conversions. The low number of reviews raises some concern though, potentially indicating lack of broad adoption or potential issues.
However, for businesses needing a comprehensive payment solution that supports multiple gateways and provides real-time insights into payment performance, UnumPay is the superior option. Its ability to connect to over 40 gateways simplifies payment operations and allows merchants to cater to a wider range of customer preferences. The higher rating and number of reviews suggest a more established and reliable service.
Common Questions
Does Clearpay On-Site Messaging process payments?
No, it only promotes Clearpay as a payment option. Actual payment processing happens through Clearpay's platform.
Can I use UnumPay only for Clearpay?
UnumPay is designed for multiple gateways; using it solely for Clearpay would be an inefficient use of its capabilities. Consider Clearpay On-Site Messaging instead.
Which app is easier to set up?
Clearpay On-Site Messaging is likely easier to set up due to its focus on message placement rather than gateway integrations. UnumPay's no-code setup claim suggests it's straightforward, but connecting multiple gateways inherently adds complexity.
Does Clearpay On-Site Messaging offer any data analytics?
Based on the description, Clearpay On-Site Messaging focuses primarily on messaging and customization, it does not specify that the application offers data analytics. UnumPay does offer reports on revenue, transactions and success rates.
Which app is better for international sales?
UnumPay, with its support for 40+ global payment gateways, is better suited for international sales as it can handle various currencies and payment preferences. Clearpay On-Site Messaging is limited to promoting Clearpay, which might not be globally available or preferred.
