Cleero: Auto Payment Matching vs Koin Cashback & Store Creditfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, the choice between Cleero: Auto Payment Matching and Koin Cashback & Store Credit for Shopify merchants is stark. Cleero, an unrated and unreviewed app, focuses on automating payment matching. In contrast, Koin boasts a perfect 5/5 rating from 57 reviews and positions itself as a comprehensive retention and marketing tool by leveraging Shopify-native store credit. Koin focuses on increasing customer lifetime value through cashback and reward programs for various customer actions, while Cleero aims for accounting efficiency. Therefore, Koin is designed for merchants who want to increase sales by retaining customers, while Cleero targets those who seek to automate the process of reconciliation of payments. The key difference lies in their functionalities. Koin enables merchants to set cashback rates, manage store credit across D2C and B2B contexts, create automated reward programs using Shopify Flow, and track store credit usage. Cleero, on the other hand, provides no information regarding its use besides automating payment matching. Given that Koin has multiple positive reviews, and Cleero has none, it's reasonable to assume that Koin offers a more mature and reliable product, especially for merchants invested in customer retention and loyalty programs.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a robust customer retention and reward system, Koin Cashback & Store Credit appears to be the significantly better choice, given its strong rating, positive reviews, and comprehensive feature set. It is designed for businesses, especially those on Shopify Plus catering to both D2C and B2B customers, to increase customer loyalty and boost sales.
Conversely, Cleero: Auto Payment Matching might be suitable for merchants specifically struggling with manual payment reconciliation, assuming the app functions as intended, although the absence of reviews makes it difficult to assess its reliability and effectiveness. If Cleero performs well in payment matching, it may be worth testing for stores that are not trying to increase sales via cashback rewards.
