CN Before & After and Sherpas: Smart SEO, while both categorized under 'Images and media' in the Shopify app store, serve fundamentally different purposes for Shopify merchants in 2026. CN Before & After focuses on visually showcasing product transformations or differences through an interactive image slider. Its strength lies in its customization options and responsive design, making it ideal for merchants wanting to enhance product presentation and visual storytelling. In contrast, Sherpas: Smart SEO addresses the critical need for search engine optimization by automating tasks like meta tag generation, image optimization, and link management. Its AI-powered features and comprehensive SEO tools are geared towards merchants seeking to improve their store's organic visibility and drive more traffic through search engines. The primary difference lies in their core function: CN Before & After is a visual merchandising tool, while Sherpas: Smart SEO is a marketing and SEO optimization tool. CN Before & After aims to improve the on-site shopping experience and product understanding. Sherpas: Smart SEO is focused on improving the website's rank and organic traffic. Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with enhancing the visual appeal of their product listings and creating engaging content through before-and-after comparisons, CN Before & After is the better choice. Its simplicity and customization options provide an easy way to showcase product transformations or differences. However, for merchants prioritizing improved search engine visibility, organic traffic, and overall SEO performance, Sherpas: Smart SEO is the clear winner. Its AI-powered features and automation tools address critical SEO areas and offer a more comprehensive solution for driving organic growth.
While both apps offer value, Sherpas: Smart SEO is generally the more impactful investment for most merchants in 2026. SEO optimization is a fundamental aspect of online success, and the automation provided by Sherpas: Smart SEO outweighs the visual enhancement offered by CN Before & After, unless visual storytelling is at the core of the merchant's sales strategy.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on their descriptions, CN Before & After is likely easier to set up and use due to its single, focused function. Sherpas: Smart SEO, while designed for ease of use, deals with the inherently complex topic of SEO, potentially requiring more initial understanding.
Which app is better for a merchant with limited technical skills?
Sherpas: Smart SEO is likely better for merchants with limited technical SEO skills, as it automates many complex tasks, whereas CN Before & After just enhances product presentation and requires only basic technical skills.
How much overlap is there between these apps?
There is minimal overlap. Both apps share the 'Images and Media' category but address entirely different business needs. One is for visual presentation, the other for search engine optimization.
Does CN Before & After impact SEO?
Potentially indirectly, by improving the user experience on product pages and increasing engagement. However, it does not directly address core SEO elements like meta tags or structured data.
Is Sherpas: Smart SEO a complete replacement for an SEO agency?
While Sherpas: Smart SEO automates many essential SEO tasks, it may not be a complete replacement for a dedicated SEO agency, especially for large or complex Shopify stores. An agency can offer more specialized strategies and ongoing analysis.
