Collection Tree vs Smart Size Chart & Size Guidefor Shopify (2026)
Collection Tree and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide are both 5-star rated Shopify apps categorized under 'Product display', but they address entirely different e-commerce challenges. Collection Tree focuses on improving product discoverability and navigation within large or complex catalogs by enabling merchants to create nested subcollections, dynamic breadcrumbs, and smart product sorting. Its primary strength lies in organizing products and enhancing the user experience for stores with extensive inventories. Smart Size Chart & Size Guide, on the other hand, centers on reducing returns and increasing sales by providing customers with accurate sizing information through customizable and visually appealing size charts and guides. The apps target different needs. Collection Tree is tailored for merchants with large, complex product catalogs who struggle with organization and customer navigation. It aims to improve SEO, UX, and conversions by presenting products in a clear, hierarchical structure. Smart Size Chart & Size Guide, conversely, is valuable for merchants selling apparel, footwear, jewelry, or other items where sizing is a critical factor in the purchasing decision. It aims to improve customer satisfaction, reduce returns related to sizing issues, and ultimately drive sales by providing confidence in fit. While both contribute to a better shopping experience, their core functionalities and target users are distinct.

Our Verdict
The choice between Collection Tree and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide hinges entirely on the specific needs of the merchant. If a store is struggling with organizing a vast product catalog and improving navigation for customers, Collection Tree is the clear choice. Its features are designed to address those pain points directly. Conversely, if a store sells products where sizing is critical and experiences a high rate of returns due to sizing issues, Smart Size Chart & Size Guide is the superior option.
While both apps are well-rated, the substantially higher number of reviews for Smart Size Chart & Size Guide suggests greater market penetration and potentially a more mature product, although this data point is incomplete without more context (e.g., app age). For stores selling both a wide variety of products and items with size-related concerns, a comprehensive strategy might involve utilizing both apps, although this would require careful consideration of cost and potential conflicts.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a clothing store with many product variations?
Smart Size Chart & Size Guide is likely more beneficial for a clothing store with many product variations, as it directly addresses the challenge of ensuring customers select the correct size, reducing returns. Collection Tree could complement this by organizing clothing by type, style, or season.
Can Collection Tree help with SEO?
Yes, Collection Tree's dynamic breadcrumbs and improved site navigation can enhance SEO by creating a clear and logical site structure, making it easier for search engines to crawl and index the website.
Does Smart Size Chart & Size Guide support multiple languages?
Yes, Smart Size Chart & Size Guide offers multi-language support, making it suitable for businesses with international customers.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Both apps claim to be easy to use, with Collection Tree featuring a drag-and-drop interface and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide offering templates. However, setup time will vary based on the complexity of the product catalog or the number of size charts required. Smart Size Charts would probably be easier to set up for fewer products but could become overwhelming with many products and types.
Are either of these apps likely to become obsolete in the next few years?
Given the fundamental needs they address (product organization and sizing accuracy), it's unlikely either app will become obsolete. However, new technologies or changes in e-commerce trends could lead to feature enhancements or adaptations. It's important to consider the app developers' commitment to ongoing support and updates.
