Crowly: Automated A/B Testing vs Product Samples by Lukefor Shopify (2026)
Crowly: Automated A/B Testing and Product Samples by Luke address entirely different aspects of e-commerce optimization. Crowly focuses on conversion rate optimization through automated A/B testing, leveraging AI to adjust product descriptions, pricing, and other elements. It's positioned as an 'effortless' solution for merchants seeking to improve revenue by automatically refining their product listings. In contrast, Product Samples by Luke aims to boost sales and reduce returns by allowing customers to order product samples before committing to a full purchase. Product Samples by Luke appeals to merchants who want to increase customer satisfaction and reduce risk for their customers. It offers a way for customers to experience the product firsthand before buying, fostering trust and potentially leading to larger order sizes due to increased confidence in the purchase. While Crowly is geared towards data-driven optimization behind the scenes, Product Samples is a direct, customer-facing feature designed to build loyalty and minimize post-purchase dissatisfaction. The minimal reviews for Crowly, compared to the high review count for Product Samples, may suggest a newer app with less established market presence. The primary difference lies in their approach: Crowly optimizes the product listing itself using AI, while Product Samples alters the customer journey by adding a 'try before you buy' option. The value proposition differs fundamentally: Crowly promises increased conversion rates through automation, while Product Samples offers increased customer satisfaction and reduced returns through offering samples.

Our Verdict
The best app depends entirely on the merchant's priorities. Crowly is suitable for merchants seeking a hands-off approach to conversion rate optimization and are comfortable trusting AI-driven adjustments. However, the extremely low number of reviews should be considered a risk. It's potentially a new app with limited real-world validation.
Product Samples by Luke is the better choice for merchants who prioritize customer satisfaction, want to reduce product returns, and sell products where a sample experience adds significant value (e.g., cosmetics, food, fabrics). The higher review count suggests it's a more established and reliable solution. A merchant focused on building strong customer relationships and reducing the risk associated with online purchases should opt for Product Samples by Luke. Ultimately, Crowly is about efficiency and data-driven optimization, while Product Samples is about building trust and lowering customer barriers to purchase.
Common Questions
Can both apps be used together?
Yes, in theory. Crowly focuses on optimizing product listings, while Product Samples offers a 'try before you buy' experience. They address different aspects of the customer journey, so there's no inherent conflict.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Crowly likely requires less initial setup since it automates the A/B testing process after initial product activation. Product Samples would require manually configuring which products are available as samples and setting pricing/options.
Which app provides more tangible results?
Product Samples likely offers more immediately tangible results in terms of reduced returns and potentially larger orders. Crowly's results, while potentially significant, are more dependent on the effectiveness of the AI and require a longer period to observe significant changes in conversion rates.
Which app is better for a new store?
Product Samples might be more beneficial for a new store, as it focuses on building trust and reducing customer hesitation, potentially leading to early sales and positive reviews. Crowly might be more effective once a store has established a baseline level of traffic and sales data for the AI to analyze.
Which app involves a higher risk for the merchant?
Crowly carries a slightly higher risk due to the reliance on AI and the potential for unintended consequences if the automated A/B testing is not carefully monitored. It also only has one review, which may indicate it isn't well established. Product Samples also has a risk, as offering samples has the cost of inventory, but it also may raise customer confidence.
