DailyOverview: Reports vs Ting ‑ Slack Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
DailyOverview: Reports and Ting ‑ Slack Notifications both address the problem of order notification overload, but they do so in fundamentally different ways. DailyOverview focuses on consolidating order information into a single, customizable daily email report, aiming to declutter inboxes and provide a clear overview of sales activity. It targets merchants seeking a high-level summary without real-time updates, delivered directly to their (or their team's) email. Ting, on the other hand, integrates with Slack to provide instant order notifications and reports within the platform, suitable for merchants and teams who actively use Slack for communication and want immediate awareness of sales and store activity. The key differentiator lies in the delivery method and the immediacy of the information. DailyOverview is passive, providing a digest at a scheduled time. Ting is active, pushing notifications as they happen. Therefore, their target audiences are distinct: DailyOverview appeals to merchants who prioritize organized email reports, whereas Ting caters to teams that thrive on real-time communication via Slack. A significant consideration is the rating and number of reviews. Ting has a higher rating and significantly more reviews, suggesting a potentially more reliable and well-received solution.

Our Verdict
For merchants drowning in order emails and needing a simplified, once-a-day overview of their store's performance, DailyOverview: Reports might be a suitable option, especially if they don't actively use Slack. However, the low rating and limited reviews are a concern. Conversely, if your team is already using Slack for communication and requires immediate notifications about orders and other key events, Ting ‑ Slack Notifications is the clear winner. The significantly higher rating and greater number of reviews indicate a more reliable and well-received app.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your preferred workflow and communication style. If you're prioritizing detailed, real-time insights and team collaboration within Slack, Ting is the superior choice. If you're solely looking to consolidate email notifications and don't require immediate updates, DailyOverview could be considered, but proceed with caution given the low rating and review count.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Ting claims to have a simple one-click setup, suggesting a streamlined installation process. DailyOverview doesn't explicitly mention ease of setup, making it harder to compare without further information.
Which app offers more flexible reporting options?
Ting provides daily, weekly, and monthly order reports. DailyOverview is limited to daily reports covering the previous day or the last 24 hours, giving Ting more flexibility in reporting periods.
Which app is better for large teams?
Ting, with its Slack integration, is likely better for larger teams as it supports multiple Slack channels and teams, fostering real-time collaboration and information sharing.
Which app is more customizable?
Both apps offer customization features. DailyOverview allows you to adjust the content of the email and who receives it. Ting allows you to customize the data included in notifications. The specific level of customization may vary, but both address the need to tailor the information provided.
What happens if my team doesn't use Slack?
If your team doesn't use Slack, Ting is not a viable option. DailyOverview would be the only choice between the two, but alternative email reporting apps should also be investigated.
