Dataships Checkout Opt‑in vs Fastr: SMS & Email Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Dataships Checkout Opt‑in and Fastr: SMS & Email Marketing target different stages of the customer journey. Dataships focuses on acquisition and compliance by optimizing the checkout process for email and SMS opt-ins, particularly with regards to regional privacy laws. Its strength lies in providing a legally compliant and dynamic method for growing marketing lists. It's ideal for merchants who prioritize ethically and legally building their audience from the point of sale. Fastr, on the other hand, is designed for retention and recovery. It concentrates on recovering abandoned carts and re-engaging shoppers through multiple channels like SMS, email, and push notifications. Its advantage is its multi-channel approach to re-engaging customers who are already in the purchasing process. Fastr seems geared towards merchants looking for immediate sales boosts via abandoned cart recovery. Dataships emphasizes compliance and integrates tightly with Klaviyo for list management, appealing to merchants with a focus on long-term, compliant marketing strategies. Its dynamic consent widget differentiates it from competitors. Fastr differentiates through its ease of use and no-code setup, positioning itself as a simpler alternative to platforms like Klaviyo or Mailchimp. It offers features such as cart saver popups and browse abandonment push reminders. The choice between the two depends on the merchant's primary objective: audience growth and compliance (Dataships) versus immediate sales recovery and re-engagement (Fastr). While Dataships currently has a perfect 5-star rating, the review count is lower than Fastr, which has a 4.2-star rating with more reviews. This suggests that Fastr has a larger user base and more established presence, though Dataships may be newer or have a more niche appeal. The difference in rating could be due to different user expectations; Dataships users might be more focused on the intricacies of compliance, while Fastr users might prioritize ease of use and the effectiveness of the abandoned cart recovery features.
