Datora | Bulk Gift Cards vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
Datora | Bulk Gift Cards and Selling Point both address gift card management on Shopify, but cater to distinct needs. Datora focuses on simplifying the *creation* and distribution of new gift cards in bulk. Its strength lies in automating the generation of cards with customizable values, prefixes, and notes, alongside direct email sending capabilities. This makes it suitable for merchants launching promotions or needing a streamlined way to create and distribute digital gift cards. Selling Point, on the other hand, solves the problem of *migrating* existing gift card systems to Shopify. It offers tools to import gift card data from various POS systems and websites, effectively transferring value from other platforms to Shopify's native gift card system or a store credit system. It transforms physical gift cards into virtual ones and also offers a bulk generation for marketing promos. The crucial difference is that Datora is for merchants who need to generate *new* gift cards, while Selling Point is aimed at merchants who are *transferring* from other platforms or systems. Datora's feature set leans toward efficient gift card creation and distribution, including workflow enhancements and data management. Selling Point prioritizes data migration and ensures seamless transfer of existing gift card balances and data into Shopify, including converting physical cards to digital ones and using native Shopify store credit. This difference in focus significantly influences which app a merchant should choose based on their particular needs.

Our Verdict
For merchants launching new gift card programs, running promotions, or needing a quick and automated way to generate gift cards for email distribution, Datora | Bulk Gift Cards is the more suitable option, provided they are willing to overlook the lower rating and fewer reviews. Its focus on simplifying the creation process and its email integration make it a good choice for those focused on new gift card sales. However, the rating is low and the review count is negligible.
Selling Point is the clear choice for merchants migrating from another platform to Shopify. If you have existing gift card balances or store credit on a different POS system or website, Selling Point's migration tools are essential for transferring that value to your Shopify store. While Datora can generate new cards, it cannot import data from external sources. Selling Point's higher rating and larger number of reviews provide increased confidence in its functionality and reliability for data migration.
