Desku: Leading AI Chatbot vs Kanal: WhatsApp Marketing+Chatfor Shopify (2026)
Desku: Leading AI Chatbot and Kanal: WhatsApp Marketing+Chat cater to distinct segments of Shopify merchants. Desku positions itself as an AI-powered omnichannel customer support solution, aiming to automate support tasks, provide product recommendations, and track orders through its AI chatbot. Its key strength lies in its comprehensive feature set, including order management capabilities, AI Copilot for support teams, and 24/7 AI support across multiple channels. Kanal, on the other hand, focuses specifically on WhatsApp marketing and chat, providing tools for engaging customers through this popular messaging platform. Kanal's higher rating (5/5) and significantly larger number of reviews (37) suggest stronger user satisfaction and a more established presence in the WhatsApp marketing niche compared to Desku's limited user feedback. While Desku offers broader functionality and aims for full customer support automation, Kanal provides specialized tools for WhatsApp-centric marketing and customer engagement. This makes Kanal particularly attractive to merchants prioritizing WhatsApp as a primary communication channel, while Desku appeals to those seeking a more comprehensive AI-powered customer service solution across multiple platforms.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Desku and Kanal depends heavily on a merchant's specific needs. If the goal is to automate customer support across multiple channels and manage orders directly from the support interface, Desku is the better choice. Its AI capabilities and omnichannel support provide a comprehensive solution. However, given the limited number of reviews, merchants should proceed with caution and thoroughly test the app.
If the primary focus is on engaging customers through WhatsApp, running targeted marketing campaigns on the platform, and building customer relationships through chat, Kanal is the superior option. Its higher rating and larger number of reviews suggest a more proven and reliable solution for WhatsApp-specific needs. For merchants who already have a robust customer service system, or don't need the extensive features offered by Desku, Kanal offers a more focused and possibly more effective approach for WhatsApp engagement.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While not explicitly stated, Kanal is likely easier to set up due to its focus on a single platform (WhatsApp). Desku's omnichannel capabilities may require more configuration to integrate different channels.
Which app is better for reducing customer support workload?
Desku is designed to reduce support workload through its AI chatbot and ticket management system. Kanal primarily focuses on marketing and customer engagement within WhatsApp, not necessarily overall support workload reduction.
Which app is more suitable for small businesses with limited customer service resources?
It depends. If WhatsApp is the primary communication channel, Kanal would be ideal. If there are a number of customer channels, then Desku will provide more features, but at the risk of additional complexity due to limited reviews it is hard to recommend over Kanal.
Does either app integrate with other Shopify apps?
The provided data doesn't explicitly mention integrations. It would be important to check the app descriptions for specific integrations before making a decision.
How do the pricing models compare?
The data does not include any information regarding pricing. Merchants will need to research the pricing plans for both apps independently.
