Dor vs Report Toaster: Custom Reportsfor Shopify (2026)
Dor and Report Toaster: Custom Reports both aim to provide analytics for Shopify merchants, but they address drastically different needs and operate in distinct spheres of data collection. Dor focuses on *physical* store performance by tracking foot traffic using a battery-powered thermal sensor. It's designed to integrate in-store data with POS information, giving retailers a holistic view of revenue, foot traffic, and conversion rates across multiple physical locations. The app prioritizes ease of use with a 'peel and stick' sensor and 'one-click integration'. Report Toaster, on the other hand, concentrates on *online* Shopify data. It allows merchants to create highly customizable reports using real-time sales, inventory, and customer data. The app boasts a library of over 130 report templates and allows for advanced filtering, multi-store reporting, scheduling, and calculated fields. The primary focus is on detailed online business intelligence and data analysis, enabling merchants to gain granular insights from their online store performance. The difference lies in the source and type of data they leverage – one deals with physical store traffic and the other with online store metrics.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Dor and Report Toaster depends entirely on the nature of your business. If you have a physical retail presence and need to understand foot traffic patterns and their impact on sales, Dor is the obvious choice. Its focus on ease of use and integration with POS systems makes it suitable for retailers who want simple, actionable insights without complex data analysis.
Report Toaster, however, is designed for online businesses or those with sophisticated online operations. Its strength lies in its ability to generate highly customized reports from a wide range of Shopify data. While it may require more time to set up and configure, it offers a much deeper level of control and flexibility for merchants who need detailed insights into their online sales, inventory, and customer behavior. If you don't have a physical storefront, Report Toaster is clearly the more relevant option.
Common Questions
What type of data can each app export?
Dor allows data export via CSV and API, implying access to raw foot traffic, conversion, and revenue data related to physical store performance. Report Toaster enables exporting reports as PDF or CSV, allowing for data manipulation in Excel or other tools. Report Toaster can also create and share live data links.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Dor is designed for ease of use with its 'peel and stick' sensor and one-click POS integration, making it much simpler to set up. Report Toaster requires more configuration to create custom reports and schedule delivery, therefore is a bit more difficult to set up.
Does either app provide real-time data?
Dor enables near real-time tracking of foot traffic via the physical sensor. Report Toaster advertises accessing 'realtime data shop data' for reporting. Both enable merchants to react quickly to trends, within their respective data collection methods.
Can both apps handle multiple store locations?
Dor allows you to view and compare foot traffic trends in every store you manage. Report Toaster offers multi-store reporting to report and compare data from multiple shops (online stores). Each application supports businesses with multiple stores, but tailored to physical versus online presence, respectively.
Is there any overlap in functionality between Dor and Report Toaster?
There is minimal overlap. While both apps offer analytics, they focus on completely different aspects of a business. Dor deals with physical store traffic, while Report Toaster focuses on online sales, inventory and customer data. Businesses with both a physical and online presence could potentially benefit from *both* for a complete picture, but they serve distinct purposes.
