DRINKS ASSURE vs Smart Age Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
DRINKS ASSURE and Smart Age Verification both address legal requirements for Shopify merchants, but cater to very different needs. DRINKS ASSURE is a comprehensive solution focused specifically on alcohol producers and retailers, addressing real-time tax and compliance requirements related to alcohol sales. It provides a 'set-it-and-forget' solution by integrating directly into the Shopify checkout, offering features like automated compliance rule updates, tax and fee capture for Excise, Alcohol, and CRV, POS integration, and detailed reports for state filings. Smart Age Verification, on the other hand, is a more general app focused on verifying the age of customers, without the granular tax and compliance features of DRINKS ASSURE. While the specific features of Smart Age Verification are not detailed in the given information, it is implied that it provides a means to confirm a customer meets the minimum age requirement before allowing them to purchase age-restricted products. DRINKS ASSURE appears to target a niche market in the alcohol industry with a focus on regulatory requirements for alcohol sales while Smart Age Verification is likely a more generic solution to age verification.

Our Verdict
For alcohol producers and retailers navigating the complex world of alcohol-related taxes and regulations, DRINKS ASSURE is the clear choice. Its comprehensive feature set and integration with Shopify checkout streamlines compliance and allows for scaling online sales. Smart Age Verification, although valuable, does not offer these alcohol-specific tax and compliance features.
If you sell age-restricted products other than alcohol and simply need a method to verify customer age, Smart Age Verification may be sufficient. However, for those in the alcohol industry, DRINKS ASSURE provides the robust, specialized tools necessary to ensure compliance and optimized operations.
