ES Customer Approval vs QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommendfor Shopify (2026)
ES Customer Approval and QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommend are both Shopify apps with a presence in the 'Forms' category, but they serve drastically different purposes. ES Customer Approval focuses on enhancing security and controlling customer onboarding, particularly beneficial for B2B, wholesale, or exclusive stores. It allows merchants to review and approve new customer registrations, customize registration forms, and store customer details as meta-fields. In contrast, QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommend is not described beyond its name and rating, but the title strongly suggests it helps merchants segment their audience and recommend products based on quiz results, a sales and marketing-oriented functionality. The most striking difference between the two apps lies in their user ratings and review counts. ES Customer Approval has a very low rating of 1/5 with only one review, suggesting potential issues with usability, functionality, or support. QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommend, however, boasts a perfect 5/5 rating with 10 reviews, indicating high user satisfaction. Given that both operate in the forms space, there may be overlap in their abilities to build custom forms. However, ES Customer Approval focuses primarily on the registration process for security purposes, whereas the QTA Quiz seems more oriented toward marketing. Without detailed features for QTA Quiz, the true extent of the overlap cannot be determined.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing security and control over customer registration, particularly those in B2B or wholesale, ES Customer Approval theoretically offers the core functionality needed to vet new customers. However, the extremely low rating and single review should be a significant red flag. Merchants should proceed with extreme caution and thoroughly test the app before committing to it.
QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommend, with its perfect rating and higher review count, appears to be a much safer and more reliable choice for merchants looking to enhance their marketing efforts through customer segmentation and product recommendations. Unless the specific security features of ES Customer Approval are absolutely essential and no alternatives exist, QTA Quiz: Segment & Recommend is the recommended choice based on the provided data.
