ESC Wishlist + Save for Later vs Recurpay: Subscriptions appfor Shopify (2026)
ESC Wishlist + Save for Later and Recurpay: Subscriptions app are both listed under the 'Customer loyalty' category in the Shopify App Store, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. ESC Wishlist + Save for Later aims to improve conversion rates by enabling customers to save products for future purchase, keeping them engaged with the store even if they aren't ready to buy immediately. It emphasizes user customization and social sharing. Its value proposition centers around capturing potential sales that might otherwise be lost due to indecision or timing. However, its very low rating and extremely limited review count raises significant concerns about its reliability and effectiveness. It targets small stores with less technical background looking to encourage further conversions. Recurpay: Subscriptions app focuses on building a stable recurring revenue stream through subscription-based product offerings. It offers robust subscription management features, including customer self-service options (skipping, rescheduling, canceling), flexible payment plans, and developer-friendly APIs. It provides 24/7 human support, addressing a key pain point for merchants managing subscriptions. It provides a high degree of customization in how you design and implement subscription payment models. It appeals to merchants who prioritize predictable income and streamlined subscription processes. The app's high rating and substantial review count suggests it provides a reliable and valuable service.

Our Verdict
For the vast majority of Shopify merchants in 2026, Recurpay: Subscriptions app is the far superior choice. Its overwhelmingly positive reviews, robust feature set, and focus on generating recurring revenue make it an invaluable asset for any business looking to implement a subscription model. The 24/7 support, is essential for merchants. Given the abysmal rating and minimal reviews of ESC Wishlist + Save for Later, it's difficult to recommend it to any merchant. The risk of instability, poor support, or ineffective functionality is simply too high.
If a merchant is solely focused on providing a basic wishlist feature, the 'ESC Wishlist + Save for Later' app could be considered *only* if no other options exist *and* if they are willing to thoroughly test and monitor its performance while anticipating potential issues. However, the extremely low rating and the availability of other wishlist apps with significantly better reputations make it a very risky choice. It is highly recommended they use an alternate app if this is the case.
Common Questions
Is ESC Wishlist + Save for Later suitable for a merchant new to Shopify?
Given its low rating and limited reviews, ESC Wishlist + Save for Later is not recommended for new Shopify merchants. The risk of encountering technical issues without adequate support is too high. They should look for an alternative application with more support.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, theoretically you could use both apps simultaneously. ESC Wishlist + Save for Later would handle wishlist/save for later functionality, while Recurpay: Subscriptions app would manage subscriptions. However, this is probably unnecessary and not the best way of improving customer loyalty.
Which app is better for increasing customer loyalty?
Recurpay: Subscriptions app likely offers more long-term benefits for customer loyalty. Subscription models encourage repeat purchases and build a stronger relationship with customers. ESC Wishlist + Save for Later is primarily focused on short-term conversion boosts.
Does Recurpay: Subscriptions app offer a free trial?
The description doesn't explicitly mention a free trial, but many subscription apps offer one. Merchants should check the app listing in the Shopify App Store for current trial information or contact the developer directly.
Which app requires more technical expertise to set up?
Recurpay: Subscriptions app offers developer-friendly APIs and coding access to subscription widgets, implying some level of technical expertise might be beneficial for advanced customization. However, it advertises an easy set-up that can be completed within minutes. Based on features alone, ESC Wishlist is designed for less technical consumers to use, due to its low degree of functionality.
