Essential Free Shipping Upsell vs Essential Sticky Add to Cartfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Free Shipping Upsell and Essential Sticky Add to Cart both aim to increase sales, but they approach the problem from different angles. Essential Free Shipping Upsell focuses on motivating customers to increase their order value to qualify for free shipping (or another reward), thereby boosting Average Order Value (AOV). Its strength lies in its customization options and revenue tracking features. In contrast, Essential Sticky Add to Cart seeks to improve conversion rates by ensuring the 'Add to Cart' button is always visible, creating urgency with countdown timers, and streamlining the checkout process. The primary difference lies in their core functionalities. Free Shipping Upsell directly incentivizes larger purchases, while Sticky Add to Cart enhances the user experience and simplifies the path to purchase, especially on mobile devices. The target audience for Free Shipping Upsell is merchants looking to increase AOV, while Sticky Add to Cart is better suited for stores struggling with conversion rates and cart abandonment, particularly on mobile.

Our Verdict
If you're noticing customers frequently abandoning carts, especially on mobile, and your primary goal is to improve your conversion rate, Essential Sticky Add to Cart is likely the better choice. The sticky 'Add to Cart' button, coupled with the countdown timer, encourages immediate action.
However, if your main concern is increasing the average amount customers spend per order and you want to motivate customers to add more items to qualify for a reward, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is the more effective option. The free shipping progress bar is a proven tactic for boosting AOV. Stores with a relatively high conversion rate but a low AOV will benefit more from this app.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?

Essential Sticky Add to Cart focuses on simple visibility and urgency, suggesting a potentially faster setup. Essential Free Shipping Upsell has more customization options, which could lead to a slightly longer configuration process.
Which app provides better ROI tracking?
