Our Verdict
Essential Free Shipping Upsell is a better choice for merchants who want a straightforward solution that integrates free shipping incentives with broader upselling and cross-selling strategies. Its higher number of reviews suggests greater market adoption and potentially more readily available community support. Hitsy Progress Bar, with its multi-tiered rewards and flexibility in using cart value or item count, is more suitable for merchants seeking a highly customizable and granular reward system, even though its review count is lower. If you're just starting out and need more hand-holding in setting it up, the explicit mention of responsive customer support in Hitsy Progress Bar might sway the decision.
Common Questions
Which app offers more in terms of increasing Average Order Value (AOV)?
Both apps aim to increase AOV. Essential Free Shipping Upsell explicitly integrates upsell and cross-sell features, potentially providing a more direct route to AOV increase. Hitsy Progress Bar focuses on incentivizing higher spending through multiple reward tiers, which could also lead to a higher AOV, depending on the reward structure.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While both apps claim ease of use, Hitsy Progress Bar specifically highlights 'responsive, helpful customer support,' suggesting a potentially smoother initial setup experience. Essential Free Shipping Upsell's straightforward description also implies ease of use, but the lack of explicit support mentions is a key difference.
Can I offer discounts with both apps?
Essential Free Shipping Upsell mentions offering 'discount code' rewards. Hitsy Progress Bar supports 'order discounts' as one of its multi-tiered rewards. Therefore, both apps can be used to offer discounts.
Does the number of reviews indicate which app is better?
Generally, a higher number of reviews can suggest wider adoption and potentially more stability and community support. Essential Free Shipping Upsell has significantly more reviews (438) than Hitsy Progress Bar (32), which suggests it might be the more popular option. However, the number of reviews alone is not a definitive measure of quality; it's essential to consider the features and specific needs of your store.
Which app is better for a store with a wide variety of products and fluctuating prices?
Hitsy Progress Bar's ability to base rewards on either cart value or the number of items in the cart makes it a more flexible option for stores with varying product prices. Essential Free Shipping Upsell, with its focus on cart value, might be less effective if product prices are highly inconsistent.
