Essential Free Shipping Upsell vs Payster • Payment Reminderfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Free Shipping Upsell and Payster • Payment Reminder, while both appearing under the 'Checkout' category in the Shopify App Store, target entirely different pain points for merchants. Essential Free Shipping Upsell focuses on increasing average order value (AOV) and sales by incentivizing customers to spend more to qualify for free shipping. Its strength lies in its customizable progress bar, upsell and cross-sell functionality, and proven effectiveness indicated by its high rating and large number of reviews. It is clearly positioned for merchants looking to actively boost revenue through strategic order value incentives. Payster • Payment Reminder, on the other hand, addresses a completely different checkout challenge. The massive difference in rating count – 438 for Essential Free Shipping Upsell versus just 3 for Payster • Payment Reminder – is a significant indicator of user trust and adoption. While Payster's description is missing, and its headline merely states 'Payment Reminder', Essential Free Shipping Upsell has a clearly defined value proposition and a wide range of features, designed to directly impact revenue generation. Merchants seeking to optimize their checkout process should evaluate which issue they are primarily attempting to solve: abandonment and payment issues, or AOV growth.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with maximizing average order value and proactively driving sales, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is the clear choice. Its strong rating, large user base, and feature set focused on upselling and incentivizing purchases make it a compelling option. The customizable progress bar and integrated upsell features provide tangible tools for increasing revenue. Payster • Payment Reminder, on the other hand, is too sparsely described to be directly comparable. Given the significantly lower rating count, it's difficult to assess its effectiveness. However, If your business is experiencing problems with abandoned carts or incomplete payments, Payster (or a similar solution with more reviews) would be something to investigate further. In summary, Essential Free Shipping Upsell is recommended for growth-focused merchants, while Payster may be helpful if you're having payment issues, but you should look for additional corroborating data points.
