Essential Upsell & Cross Sell vs SelfDesk: Order Edit & Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell and SelfDesk: Order Edit & Upsell both aim to increase Average Order Value (AOV) through upsells and cross-sells on Shopify. However, they appear to cater to different segments of merchants. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell positions itself as a comprehensive solution, offering a wide array of features including frequently bought together suggestions, product recommendations, post-purchase upsells, BOGO bundles, and cart drawer integration. This makes it suitable for merchants seeking an all-in-one tool for maximizing revenue through various upsell strategies. SelfDesk: Order Edit & Upsell, judging by its name and the lack of extensive description, likely focuses more on order management with upsell capabilities as a secondary function. Its very low review count compared to Essential Upsell & Cross Sell suggests it is either a newer app or has a significantly smaller user base. While both apps share a 5/5 rating, the sheer volume of reviews for Essential Upsell & Cross Sell lends it more credibility and suggests a longer track record of positive customer experiences. Without more information on SelfDesk: Order Edit & Upsell's order management features, the core differentiator lies in Essential Upsell & Cross Sell's breadth of specifically-designed upsell and cross-sell strategies.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on aggressively increasing their AOV through a variety of sophisticated upsell and cross-sell techniques, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is the clear choice. Its extensive features, combined with a substantial number of positive reviews, demonstrate its effectiveness and reliability. The app allows merchants to tailor upsell strategies across multiple touch points, including product pages, cart drawers, and even post-purchase.

Without more information about its order editing features, it's difficult to assess its core strengths, but if order management is the priority, this app warrants further investigation. However, the lack of reviews compared to Essential Upsell & Cross Sell poses a risk.
