Essential Upsell & Cross Sell vs Thankify: Smart Thank You Pagefor Shopify (2026)
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell and Thankify: Smart Thank You Page both aim to increase Average Order Value (AOV) through upsell and cross-sell strategies, but they target different points in the customer journey. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell focuses on pre-purchase and immediate post-purchase engagement by integrating upsells and cross-sells directly into the product pages, cart, and via post-purchase discounts. It casts a wide net, covering various potential upsell opportunities throughout the buying process. Its strength lies in its comprehensive feature set and flexibility to integrate upsells across multiple touchpoints. Thankify: Smart Thank You Page, on the other hand, concentrates solely on the thank you page presented after the order is placed. It focuses on maximizing value and engagement at this often-overlooked stage. Thankify's value proposition is less about pure upsell/cross-sell volume and more about long-term customer relationship building, leveraging surveys for feedback and social sharing to grow social traffic. The no-code builder caters to merchants who desire a user-friendly interface for creating customized and engaging thank you pages. This makes it appealing to merchants with limited technical expertise or a strong focus on brand building.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on maximizing immediate AOV and implementing upsell strategies across multiple touchpoints, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is the stronger choice. Its comprehensive feature set and ability to integrate upsells throughout the customer journey provide more opportunities for increasing sales. Its robust review count also suggests a proven track record of success for other merchants.
However, for merchants who view the thank you page as a critical opportunity to build customer loyalty, gather feedback, and drive social traffic, Thankify: Smart Thank You Page is the better option. Its user-friendly interface and focus on engagement make it well-suited for merchants with less technical expertise or those prioritizing long-term customer relationships over immediate sales spikes.
Common Questions
Which app is better for merchants just starting with upsells?
Thankify might be easier to start with due to its no-code interface focused on a single page. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell offers more features, but also requires more setup and strategic planning.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, technically, since they target different points in the customer journey. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell handles pre-purchase and cart upsells, while Thankify optimizes the thank you page post-purchase.
Which app is better for mobile optimization?
The descriptions don't explicitly mention mobile optimization. Further investigation into each app's responsiveness and mobile-friendliness would be needed to determine which is better. Both apps likely offer some form of mobile support, but the quality may vary.
How do the apps handle discounts?
Essential Upsell & Cross Sell offers 'Automatic discount promotions' for upsell products. Thankify doesn't explicitly mention discount features in the provided information, suggesting it may not offer this functionality directly.
Which app provides more detailed analytics?
Neither description goes into detail about analytics dashboards. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell's wider functionality would logically necessitate more detailed analytics than Thankify's singular focus on the Thank You page, but this is speculation based on the provided data. Further investigation of each app's specific analytics features is necessary.
