Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks vs Guide Shipping Insurancefor Shopify (2026)
Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks and Guide Shipping Insurance, while both listed under the 'Upsell and Cross-sell' category, serve fundamentally different purposes for Shopify merchants. Fly focuses on increasing Average Order Value (AOV) through product bundling, quantity discounts, and other sales incentives directly impacting product purchase behavior. It aims to convert single-item orders into larger, more profitable transactions using techniques like 'Frequently Bought Together' (FBT) blocks and 'Buy One Get One' (BOGO) offers. Guide Shipping Insurance, on the other hand, offers customers the option to insure their purchases against loss, damage, or theft during shipping. It addresses potential customer concerns about the delivery process and provides peace of mind. While it can indirectly contribute to AOV by removing a potential barrier to purchase, its primary function is risk mitigation and customer service enhancement, not directly upselling or cross-selling additional products. The difference is Fly's features are geared toward increasing how much a customer buys, whereas Guide helps retain revenue via insurance.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with increasing their Average Order Value (AOV) through strategic product bundling and discounts, Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks is the clear choice. Its robust feature set, including fixed bundles, quantity breaks, and FBT blocks, is specifically designed to incentivize larger purchases and improve overall sales performance.
However, merchants prioritizing customer satisfaction and risk mitigation during shipping should opt for Guide Shipping Insurance. By offering customers the option to insure their purchases, merchants can instill confidence and reduce potential customer service issues related to lost or damaged packages. It's a valuable tool for building trust and protecting both the customer and the business from shipping-related liabilities.
Common Questions
Which app better addresses customer acquisition?
Neither app directly addresses customer acquisition. However, Fly might indirectly improve acquisition by making offers more enticing and increasing word-of-mouth. Guide might help reduce churn by increasing trust in shipping.
Does Fly: Bundles & Quantity Breaks integrate with existing Shopify discount codes?
The description does not explicitly state its integration with existing discount codes, but auto-discounting bundles suggests it can manage discounts itself.
What are the potential downsides of using Guide Shipping Insurance?
One potential downside is that it adds an extra cost for the customer, which might deter some purchases. However, most platforms will only add the cost if selected by the end consumer.
Which app is easier to implement?
Fly claims zero coding required. Guide seems easy to integrate as well, by simply activating and offering shipping insurance. Hard to determine which is easier without testing.
Can Guide Shipping Insurance be used for all product types?
Assuming Guide Shipping Insurance covers general shipping risks, it should be applicable to most product types unless specifically restricted by their insurance policy.
