FraudGuard vs Subunofor Shopify (2026)
FraudGuard and Subuno are both Shopify apps designed to prevent fraud and reduce chargebacks, boasting perfect 5/5 ratings. However, they cater to slightly different merchant needs. FraudGuard emphasizes automated customer verification through methods like security Q&A and bank statement codes, alongside custom rules and block/allow lists. Its focus is on a more hands-off approach, aiming for complete automation of order screening and approval/cancellation based on risk. Subuno, on the other hand, positions itself as a customizable rules-based platform with a focus on data analytics and manual review tools. It highlights 15+ tools for in-depth research, integrated third-party data, and automated flagging based on multiple risk factors. While Subuno also automates actions like holding or rejecting orders, it seems to offer a deeper dive into the data and a more hands-on approach for merchants who want more control over the screening process. Both apps offer valuable fraud protection, but FraudGuard leans towards complete automation and customer verification, while Subuno emphasizes customization, data analytics, and integrated third-party tools for more granular control.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a largely automated solution with strong customer verification and easy block/allow lists, FraudGuard is a solid choice. Its emphasis on autopilot approval/cancellation can free up time for other business activities.
However, if a merchant desires deeper control, access to extensive data analytics, and wants to leverage integrated third-party tools with more manual review options, Subuno is a better fit. Subuno is suited for businesses that want to fine-tune their fraud prevention strategies and actively participate in the review process.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
FraudGuard likely offers a simpler, more automated experience. Subuno, with its focus on customization and data analytics, may require a steeper learning curve to fully leverage its features.
Which app provides better protection against chargebacks?
Both apps aim to reduce chargebacks. FraudGuard explicitly states it provides proof to win disputes. Subuno focuses on preventing credit card fraud which in turn reduces chargebacks. The 'better' app depends on the specific fraud patterns the merchant is experiencing.
Which app is more suitable for a high-volume store?
Both apps can potentially handle high-volume, but Subuno's focus on automated flagging and rules might make it slightly more efficient for initial screening, enabling faster manual review of the flagged orders.
Does either app require coding skills?
Subuno explicitly claims that fraud checks can be customized without coding. FraudGuard does not mention coding requirements. Neither is likely to need advanced coding knowledge.
Which app is a better value for money?
Without pricing information, it's impossible to say definitively. The value depends on the merchant's specific needs and how well each app's features align with their fraud prevention strategy. Testimonials would further assist in this.
