FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification vs Ongoing Disable Right Clickfor Shopify (2026)
FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification and Ongoing Disable Right Click are both Shopify apps categorized under "Fraud," but they address entirely different aspects of fraud prevention and security. FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification aims to authenticate buyers by verifying their phone numbers using SMS one-time passcodes (OTP). It focuses on preventing payment fraud and minimizing chargebacks by filtering out non-serious buyers before checkout. In contrast, Ongoing Disable Right Click appears to concentrate on preventing content theft by disabling the right-click functionality on a Shopify store, thereby deterring users from easily copying images or text. The most striking difference lies in their approach and target users. FraudLabs Pro caters to merchants concerned about transaction fraud and chargebacks, requiring a more involved customer interaction (SMS verification). Ongoing Disable Right Click, however, is geared toward merchants prioritizing intellectual property protection and preventing easy content duplication. It offers a less intrusive experience for legitimate customers, working silently in the background. The user reviews also strongly contrast the two, with FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification having very low ratings and few reviews, while Ongoing Disable Right Click has a perfect score, albeit also with few reviews.

Our Verdict
Merchants facing significant issues with fraudulent transactions and chargebacks might consider FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification, but should carefully investigate the reasons behind its low rating and limited user base. Thoroughly test the implementation to ensure a smooth customer experience and that it truly reduces fraud. Given the low review count for both, more research is advisable before committing to either app.
Ongoing Disable Right Click is more suitable for merchants whose business heavily relies on original content (images, text) and who are concerned about easy copying. Its non-intrusive nature and high rating (though based on limited data) make it a potentially useful tool for basic content protection. However, remember that determined users can bypass right-click restrictions, so it's not a foolproof solution. Both require further research and monitoring after install to gauge the true impact for each specific business.
Common Questions
Which app provides better overall fraud protection?
It depends on the type of fraud you're facing. FraudLabs Pro targets transaction fraud, while Ongoing Disable Right Click aims to prevent content theft. They address different aspects of security.
Is FraudLabs Pro SMS Verification likely to impact conversion rates?
Potentially, yes. Adding an SMS verification step can introduce friction in the checkout process, leading some legitimate customers to abandon their carts. Careful A/B testing is recommended to assess the impact on your conversion rates.
Can users easily bypass Ongoing Disable Right Click?
Yes, determined users with technical knowledge can bypass right-click restrictions using browser extensions, developer tools, or by simply taking screenshots. It provides a basic level of protection but is not foolproof.
What are the limitations of using SMS verification for fraud prevention?
SMS verification is not completely foolproof. Phone numbers can be spoofed or stolen. Also, SMS delivery issues or delays can frustrate legitimate customers. The low rating suggests it may not be a perfect solution for all stores or regions. It also requires customers to have a working and accessible mobile phone.
Are there alternative solutions to these apps for fraud prevention?
Yes, numerous fraud prevention apps are available on the Shopify App Store that offer different approaches, such as risk scoring, IP address analysis, and transaction monitoring. Other content protection methods include watermarking images or disabling image downloads directly.
