Function Lab vs Quick Quotefor Shopify (2026)
Function Lab and Quick Quote, while both listed under the 'Pricing' category in the Shopify App Store, address fundamentally different needs. Function Lab targets merchants who want advanced control over Shopify's discount and customization capabilities using Functions. Its core strength lies in its DIY function editor, allowing merchants to create automatic discounts and, in the future, delivery and payment customizations via JSON editing. This app aims at technically proficient users or those with development resources comfortable working with code or willing to learn. Quick Quote, conversely, caters to merchants who require a custom quote process for their products or services. It simplifies the process of allowing customers to request quotes directly from the cart, facilitating negotiation and tailored pricing. The app focuses on enabling merchants to manage and respond to these requests, creating a smoother workflow for businesses that handle custom orders or offer volume discounts. Its value proposition centers around increasing sales through personalized pricing and enhanced customer interaction. The key difference between these apps lies in their core functionalities: Function Lab aims to customize pricing and other aspects programmatically, while Quick Quote facilitates personalized price negotiation between merchant and customer.

Our Verdict
The choice between Function Lab and Quick Quote depends heavily on the merchant's specific needs and technical capabilities. If a merchant requires advanced control over discounts and future Shopify customizations and has access to technical resources or expertise in JSON editing, Function Lab would be a suitable choice. It allows for highly tailored pricing strategies and future customization of delivery and payments.
Conversely, if a merchant primarily needs a streamlined process for managing custom quotes and facilitating personalized pricing negotiations with customers, Quick Quote is the clear winner. Its focus on customer interaction and quote management makes it ideal for businesses offering custom products or services where pricing is not fixed and requires negotiation. The greater number of reviews also suggest a more mature product with more users.
