Gift Options Plus vs Ribbon | Giftingfor Shopify (2026)
Gift Options Plus and Ribbon | Gifting offer distinct approaches to the gift-giving experience on Shopify in 2026. Gift Options Plus focuses on enhancing existing purchase flows with traditional gift options like wrapping, messages, and multilingual support. Its strengths lie in its customizable widgets that integrate directly into product, cart, and checkout pages. It seems well-suited for merchants looking to add common gift options to their existing product offerings, enhancing the customer experience for purchases already being made. Ribbon | Gifting, on the other hand, presents a more innovative approach, focusing on product gifting without requiring recipient addresses or sizes, effectively creating a unique gift-redemption flow, acting as a lead-generation and customer acquisition tool. Ribbon | Gifting targets merchants looking to drive sales through gifting campaigns, acquire new customers through gift recipients, and leverage the gifting process for upselling and cross-selling. It provides a gifting platform where gifts are sent digitally with an eventual redemption process. While Gift Options Plus enhances existing purchases, Ribbon | Gifting aims to create entirely new sales and customer relationships through a unique gifting experience. The two apps cater to different needs and priorities within the gift-giving landscape.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a quick and easy way to add traditional gift options like wrapping and personalized messages to their existing product offerings, Gift Options Plus offers a straightforward solution, though the limited number of reviews and lower rating should be considered. It's ideal for seasonal boosts and enhancing the checkout experience. However, for merchants prioritizing customer acquisition, innovative gifting experiences, and leveraging gifting for upselling and data insights, Ribbon | Gifting is the superior choice. While it might require more initial setup and strategic thinking, its potential for new customer acquisition and data-driven optimization is significant. Ribbon | Gifting is particularly well-suited for brands with visually appealing products suitable for gifting and the desire to introduce their brand to new audiences.
