Gift Wrap Plus vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
Gift Wrap Plus and Selling Point, while both categorized under 'Gifts' on Shopify, cater to fundamentally different merchant needs. Gift Wrap Plus focuses on enhancing the customer experience by allowing merchants to offer customized gift wrapping options directly within their store. Its core value proposition lies in providing an easy-to-implement solution for adding a gift-wrapping service, a feature absent in default Shopify setups. It targets merchants who want to increase perceived value and potentially drive sales through upselling gift wrap options. Selling Point, on the other hand, addresses the complex problem of migrating or importing existing gift card and store credit data from other platforms or POS systems into Shopify. Selling Point is designed for merchants transitioning to Shopify from other platforms, those consolidating multiple systems, or those with a large existing base of gift card/store credit users. The app prioritizes data migration efficiency, aiming to save merchants significant time and resources compared to manual migration or custom development. While both apps enhance the 'gifting' aspect of an online store, they do so through very distinct functionalities, making their appeal limited to different merchant profiles and priorities.

Our Verdict
The choice between Gift Wrap Plus and Selling Point depends entirely on a merchant's specific needs. If a merchant is looking to enhance their storefront and provide an additional service to their customers, thereby increasing average order value, Gift Wrap Plus is the clear choice. Its ease of installation and customization options make it ideal for merchants with limited technical expertise.
However, if a merchant is migrating to Shopify from another platform or POS system and has existing gift card or store credit data, Selling Point becomes invaluable. The app's ability to efficiently import this data in bulk saves significant time and resources, making it a necessity for a smooth transition. For a new Shopify store with no previous gift card system, Selling Point may not be as necessary.
