Gift Wrap ‑ Upsell Gift Wrap vs izi Gift Cards & Store Creditfor Shopify (2026)
Gift Wrap ‑ Upsell Gift Wrap and izi Gift Cards & Store Credit, while both categorized under "Gifts" and "Gift wrap and messages" on Shopify, cater to vastly different merchant needs. Gift Wrap focuses specifically on enabling customers to mark orders as gifts, add messages, and potentially purchase gift wrapping. It targets merchants looking for a simple, direct way to offer gift options at checkout. izi Gift Cards & Store Credit, on the other hand, is a comprehensive solution for managing gift cards, store credit, and customer loyalty programs. It is geared towards merchants aiming to boost AOV, customer retention, and leverage gift cards for marketing and promotional activities. The primary difference lies in their breadth of functionality. Gift Wrap is a feature-specific app, ideal for merchants needing basic gift-related functionality. izi Gift Cards & Store Credit offers a suite of tools for managing gift card sales, store credit rewards, and customer engagement through personalized email experiences and detailed reporting. The "rise ai" functionality mentioned in izi Gift Cards & Store Credit’s description suggests advanced automation and personalization capabilities compared to Gift Wrap's basic tagging and upsell features. The stark contrast in ratings and the number of reviews also suggests a significant difference in user satisfaction and product maturity. While Gift Wrap offers a simple and potentially quick solution for basic gift-wrapping features, its low rating could signal potential usability or reliability issues. izi Gift Cards & Store Credit appears to have a more positive user experience and broader adoption based on its higher rating and greater number of reviews.

Our Verdict
For merchants solely focused on adding basic gift-wrapping and messaging options to their cart page with minimal setup, Gift Wrap ‑ Upsell Gift Wrap might seem appealing. However, the low rating and limited features suggest potential drawbacks. Merchants looking for a robust solution to boost sales, customer loyalty, and AOV through strategic use of gift cards and store credit should strongly consider izi Gift Cards & Store Credit. While it may require more setup and planning, the higher rating, comprehensive features, and potential for long-term growth make it a more compelling option for many businesses.
Given the substantial difference in user ratings and feature sets, izi Gift Cards & Store Credit is the generally recommended option for most Shopify merchants aiming to leverage the power of gifting and loyalty programs. Gift Wrap may only be suitable for extremely simple use cases where minimal investment and basic functionality are the top priorities.
