Giftnote, eGifts & Bulk Send vs Sales Motivator ‑ Free Giftsfor Shopify (2026)
Giftnote, eGifts & Bulk Send and Sales Motivator - Free Gifts both operate within the 'Gifts' category on Shopify, but cater to vastly different needs. Giftnote focuses on enabling merchants to offer a comprehensive gifting experience, including personalized messages, eGift cards, corporate gifting solutions (multi-address and bulk sending), and gift wrapping options. It aims to transform gifting into a high-growth revenue channel. Sales Motivator, on the other hand, is primarily an upsell tool designed to incentivize customers to spend more by offering free gifts based on cart value, selected products, or customer segments. It functions as a promotional tool rather than a complete gifting solution. Giftnote boasts a perfect 5/5 rating, though based on slightly fewer reviews (116) than Sales Motivator's 4.9/5 rating with 148 reviews. Giftnote's strength lies in its comprehensive suite of features aimed at enriching the gifting process, including integrations with other popular apps like Klaviyo and Shipstation for enhanced marketing and fulfillment. Sales Motivator shines as a straightforward upsell app, providing merchants with configurable rules for offering free gifts and customizing the offer's appearance to match their store's theme. The key differentiator is that Giftnote handles the entire gifting process, while Sales Motivator focuses on using gifts as a promotional incentive to increase sales.

Our Verdict
For merchants who want a comprehensive gifting solution, including personalized messages, eGift cards, and bulk gifting capabilities for corporate clients, Giftnote, eGifts & Bulk Send is the clear choice. It provides a full-fledged gifting experience. However, if the primary goal is to simply boost sales by offering free gifts based on cart value or specific product purchases, Sales Motivator - Free Gifts is a more direct and potentially cost-effective option. It provides the basic Gift-with-Purchase functionality with a simple setup. In summary, Giftnote is for a full gifting strategy, Sales Motivator for a quick sales boost.
Ultimately, the better app depends on the merchant's specific needs and goals. If a merchant wants to truly optimize the gifting experience and market it effectively, Giftnote is the superior option, despite the potentially steeper learning curve and resource investment. If the objective is a quick and easy way to drive sales through free gifts, Sales Motivator is a suitable solution.
