Gist | Gift Card Pro Tools vs Video Greet: Gift Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
Gist | Gift Card Pro Tools and Video Greet: Gift Messaging both enhance the gift-giving experience for Shopify customers, but they approach it from different angles. Gist focuses on comprehensive gift card management, offering features like automated delivery via email/SMS, custom card designs, bulk sending capabilities, and balance notifications. It aims to streamline the entire gift card process, from purchase to redemption. Video Greet, on the other hand, emphasizes personalized messaging, allowing customers to add video, audio, and text messages to their orders through QR codes or portal pages. It's a simpler solution focused on adding a personal touch to existing products or gifts. Gist is geared toward merchants who want to offer a complete digital gift card solution, potentially replacing or enhancing their existing gift card functionality. It's ideal for businesses looking to increase gift card sales and offer advanced customization options. Video Greet is a more lightweight option that integrates easily into existing checkout flows, focusing on enabling personalized gift messages. It's suited for stores selling physical products that customers frequently give as gifts, offering a value-added personalized experience at a relatively low implementation cost. Given their very different offerings, a store could even use both in conjunction: Gist for digital gift cards, and Video Greet for physical product gifts.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing robust gift card functionalities, including automated delivery and balance management, Gist | Gift Card Pro Tools is the superior choice. It's a comprehensive solution for managing and optimizing gift card programs. However, for stores aiming to add a personal touch to physical product orders without disrupting the existing checkout flow, Video Greet: Gift Messaging offers a simpler, more focused approach. It is better for smaller stores, corporate gifting of tangible objects, or stores where customers want to send personalized video or audio to accompany the gifts they're sending.
While Video Greet has a slightly higher rating, the significantly lower number of reviews should be considered. If a comprehensive gift card system is paramount, Gist, with its established feature set and larger user base (reflected in the review count) is the stronger option. If a quick win on personalizing is all that is needed, then Video Greet is probably the way to go.
