Gorgias: Helpdesk, Chat & FAQ vs Zipchat AI Chatbot+Whatsapp AIfor Shopify (2026)
Gorgias: Helpdesk, Chat & FAQ and Zipchat AI Chatbot+Whatsapp AI are both Shopify apps in the 'Chat' category, but they target different merchant needs and offer distinct functionalities. Gorgias focuses on being a comprehensive helpdesk solution, encompassing chat, FAQs, and broader customer support ticketing systems. It likely appeals to merchants needing robust, multi-channel support management with established workflows. Zipchat AI Chatbot+Whatsapp AI, in contrast, positions itself as an AI-powered sales and support agent, heavily emphasizing automation for sales, marketing, and customer service through AI-driven chat, WhatsApp integration, and proactive engagement strategies. The key difference lies in their core strengths. Gorgias is built for managing diverse customer support interactions across multiple channels, while Zipchat centers around AI-driven automation to boost sales, recover abandoned carts, and provide 24/7 support using an AI Chatbot. Zipchat’s focus is more on proactive sales and marketing using AI, whereas Gorgias provides a more traditional help desk with chat functionality, likely including human agent oversight. The review count disparity suggests Gorgias is the more established app, but the higher rating of Zipchat indicates strong user satisfaction within its target niche.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing a complete helpdesk solution to manage customer inquiries across multiple channels with a blend of human and automated responses, Gorgias is likely the better choice. Its established user base and wider range of features provide a more comprehensive support system. However, for merchants primarily focused on leveraging AI to drive sales, recover abandoned carts, and provide 24/7 automated support via chat and WhatsApp, Zipchat is the stronger option. Its higher rating and focus on AI-driven features indicate a more specialized and effective solution for that specific purpose.
Ultimately, the choice depends on the merchant's specific needs and priorities. If you need a full-fledged helpdesk with broad functionality, go with Gorgias. If you need an AI sales and customer service agent focused on conversion and proactive support, Zipchat will be more valuable.
