Govalo | Gift Card Suite vs Selling Pointfor Shopify (2026)
Govalo | Gift Card Suite and Selling Point both cater to the Shopify gifts and gift card category but address drastically different merchant needs. Govalo aims to enhance the gift card experience within a Shopify store, focusing on customizable, giftable subscriptions, and features tailored for ongoing sales and marketing. Selling Point, on the other hand, is designed for merchants migrating existing gift card systems into Shopify. It prioritizes the bulk import and transition of gift card balances from other platforms, serving as a bridge rather than an ongoing enhancement tool. Govalo aims to provide a robust gifting experience, integrating with marketing automation tools like Klaviyo and offering advanced analytics to track gift card performance. It also provides features to capture sales from out-of-stock items. Selling Point, conversely, offers a straightforward solution for merchants burdened with manually transferring gift card data or hiring developers. Its primary strength lies in the efficient migration of gift card balances and transforming physical gift cards into virtual ones. It lacks the ongoing feature enhancements and customization options found in Govalo. In essence, Govalo is about improving the gift card *experience* on Shopify, whereas Selling Point focuses on simplifying gift card *migration* to Shopify.

Our Verdict
Selling Point is a clear choice for merchants transitioning to Shopify who need to migrate their existing gift card balances from another platform. Its focus on bulk import and data transfer makes it the ideal solution for this specific need. The high rating and substantial number of reviews support its efficacy in its specialized area.
Govalo, with its lower rating, appears better suited for merchants already on Shopify who are looking to enhance their gift card offerings, integrate with marketing tools, and offer features like giftable subscriptions. However, the low rating compared to Selling Point should cause merchants to proceed with caution and carefully consider recent reviews. Govalo should be considered only if you are already on Shopify and are not migrating cards from another system.
