Help Scout vs Kustomerfor Shopify (2026)
Both Help Scout and Kustomer aim to enhance customer support for Shopify merchants in 2026. Help Scout positions itself as a customer support platform focused on delivering a personal touch at scale, emphasizing ease of use and efficient resolution of customer requests. Its key strengths lie in its consolidated inbox, AI-powered tools, and self-service options, making it suitable for merchants who prioritize streamlined workflows and empowering customers to find solutions themselves. One key advantage is the tight integration allowing order editing, cancellations and refunds directly from within the Help Scout platform. Kustomer, on the other hand, brands itself as an AI CRM, focusing on providing a holistic view of customer data to create superior customer experiences. Kustomer emphasizes AI-driven insights and personalized customer interactions, targeting merchants who seek to deeply understand their customer base and deliver highly customized support. It distinguishes itself with robust customer data integration, efficient order data management, and dynamic message customization. The app provides automated chatbots and shortcuts to further accelerate the support cycle. While both offer order management functionalities, Kustomer appears to lean more heavily into leveraging a CRM approach for customer interactions.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing ease of setup, streamlined workflows, and a focus on delivering a personal touch through email and live chat, Help Scout is likely the better choice. It’s AI tools at no extra cost and powerful self-service options also make it ideal for businesses seeking to scale their support without significantly increasing overhead.
However, merchants looking for a comprehensive AI CRM solution with deep customer data integration and a focus on personalized experiences should opt for Kustomer. Its robust features and AI-driven insights can be invaluable for businesses aiming to elevate customer service to the next level, particularly those dealing with more complex customer journeys and requiring a holistic customer view.
Common Questions
