Howdy New Customer Profile vs XO Insert Codefor Shopify (2026)
Howdy New Customer Profile and XO Insert Code both fall under the 'Content' category on the Shopify App Store, but they cater to vastly different needs. Howdy New Customer Profile focuses on enhancing the new customer account profile page by enabling the addition of metafields and banner images, directly improving the user experience and enabling more personalized account management. Its positioning is very specific: enhancing the new customer account profile page. Conversely, XO Insert Code is a general-purpose tool designed to allow merchants to insert custom code (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Liquid) into various parts of their Shopify store. It is a more technical tool, intended to provide extensive customization options for themes, tracking, and third-party integrations. The key difference lies in their functionality and target audience. Howdy New Customer Profile targets merchants who want to customize and improve the new customer account profile page without deep coding knowledge. XO Insert Code, on the other hand, targets merchants with some technical expertise or those who want to implement third-party integrations that require adding custom code. The former enhances the user experience directly; the latter offers a more generalized way to customize the store's functionality and tracking.

Our Verdict
For merchants looking to improve the new customer account profile page experience by enabling customization through metafields and banner images without diving into complex code, Howdy New Customer Profile is potentially the better option, IF it gains positive reviews. However, given its current lack of reviews and 0/5 rating, it's a significant risk.
XO Insert Code is the clear choice for merchants who need to insert custom code snippets for Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other third-party integrations, or who want to heavily customize the theme beyond the basic Shopify editor. Its high rating and numerous reviews indicate a reliable and effective solution, especially for those comfortable working with code.
Common Questions
What if I need both profile page customization and code insertion?
You might consider using both apps, but prioritize XO Insert Code first if you require critical third-party integrations. Then, once Howdy New Customer Profile has proven its value with positive reviews, you can evaluate it.
Is Howdy New Customer Profile a risk given the lack of reviews?
Yes, it is. A lack of reviews can indicate various issues, including bugs, poor customer support, or simply a new app with no users yet. Exercise caution and potentially contact the developer for more information before committing.
Can I achieve similar profile customization with XO Insert Code?
Technically yes, you *could* use XO Insert Code to insert custom code that mimics the features of Howdy New Customer Profile, but it would require significantly more technical skill and effort, including writing Liquid, HTML and CSS code. It's generally not the best approach for non-developers.
Does XO Insert Code slow down my site?
It depends on the code you insert. Poorly optimized code can indeed slow down your site. It's important to ensure that any code you add is efficient and doesn't load unnecessary resources.
Is Howdy New Customer Profile compatible with all Shopify themes?
The app description does not explicitly state theme compatibility. You should verify compatibility with your specific theme before installing, possibly by contacting the developer.
