iDEAL by Lyra Collect vs Synchrony On‑Site Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, choosing between iDEAL by Lyra Collect and Synchrony On-Site Messaging on Shopify presents a clear decision based on payment strategy. iDEAL by Lyra Collect focuses on enabling merchants to accept iDEAL payments, a popular payment method in some European countries, offering secure payment processing, multi-language support, and refund/cancellation capabilities. Its target audience is merchants who need to cater to customers who prefer iDEAL. However, the lack of reviews and a zero rating are significant drawbacks. Synchrony On-Site Messaging, in contrast, aims to increase sales by offering consumer financing options like private label credit cards, pay monthly and pay-in-4 loans. The two apps cater to entirely different needs. iDEAL focuses on providing a specific payment gateway, while Synchrony focuses on financing. Synchrony targets merchants looking to increase purchasing power by providing flexible payment options and boasts a 4/5 rating, albeit from only one review. The difference in their approaches means that the choice hinges on whether a merchant wants to simply enable iDEAL payments or offer a broader range of financing options to stimulate sales.

Our Verdict
The choice between iDEAL by Lyra Collect and Synchrony On-Site Messaging is straightforward. If a significant portion of your customer base prefers paying with iDEAL, and you lack that option, then *only if it gains reviews and proves its security* the iDEAL app becomes relevant. However, the lack of reviews in 2026 would be concerning. Synchrony On-Site Messaging is more suitable for merchants aiming to boost sales by offering financing options to customers. The relatively higher rating (though based on a single review) and the focus on increasing purchasing power make it a potentially better choice for businesses seeking to grow revenue through financing.
