iDEAL by Lyra Collect vs TryOnify: Try Before You Buyfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, Shopify merchants choosing between iDEAL by Lyra Collect and TryOnify: Try Before You Buy face a stark contrast. iDEAL by Lyra Collect focuses on enabling secure iDEAL payments, a popular payment method in some European countries, offering features like multi-language and multi-currency support, and payment operation management. This app targets merchants specifically looking to offer iDEAL payments to their customers and needing tools for refunds, cancellations, and validations of those payments. TryOnify: Try Before You Buy, on the other hand, is positioned as a customer acquisition tool that eliminates the need for immediate payment, allowing customers a trial period before being charged. The fundamental difference lies in their value proposition. iDEAL aims to improve payment processing capabilities, appealing to merchants who need a specific payment gateway. TryOnify targets a broader audience looking to boost sales by removing purchasing barriers, encouraging hesitant customers to try products before committing to a payment. The apps cater to different needs: one addresses payment method preferences while the other addresses purchase anxiety and customer acquisition strategies.

Our Verdict
For merchants specifically targeting the iDEAL payment method and needing granular control over iDEAL transactions, iDEAL by Lyra Collect is the more appropriate choice, provided its lack of reviews is addressed with caution. However, for the vast majority of Shopify merchants aiming to boost conversions and reduce cart abandonment by offering a 'Try Before You Buy' option, TryOnify appears to be the better option, given its positive rating and focus on customer acquisition through deferred payments.
Given the current state of reviews, it is prudent to investigate the reasons behind iDEAL by Lyra Collect's lack of feedback. If the app is new or lacks adoption for other reasons, proceed with caution. TryOnify's positive reviews offer some reassurance, but further investigation into individual merchant requirements is always recommended.
